Silhouettes & Sunset

Silhouettes & Sunset

Every sunset is a promise of a new beginning. I've always found the sunset beautiful, not merely because of the vibrant colors emanating from the sky with the dying sun, but because with every sunset I am always reminded of the circle of life.

Death gives birth to life.

Appropriately, I dedicate this tabblo to two persons celebrating life and, hopefully I don't sound morbid, death.

To my friend and fellow tabblo-er, Marius. Belated Happy Birthday! I wish you all the happiness in life, love and photography. I hope the "darkness" of this tabblo will cheer you up. :)

And to Mr. John Updike, who passed away last week. He has always been one of my most respected and favorite American novelists. I made a paper on him in college. It grieved me to hear of his death. Yet he will remain immortal in his literary achievements. May you rest in peace, Mr. Updike. Thank you for your life and works.

Sunset - perfect beginning of new day? It is perfect and unusual philosophy. Real optimism. Remarkable photos. The sun, pleasure of life and friends. Nothing can be better:)

As usual, great pics.

I hope John will have his Rabbit Redux. I to am a huge fan of his work, as well.
AND
a huge fan of my lil brother, M.
Lastly, a huge fan of you, James. This tabblo is you in a nutshell. A skilled artisan, with the eye of the impassioned soul, and a sentimentalist, as well. Love the sequence, the nuances of the expressions of the people contrasted by the static Palm trees.

these shots are just beautiful. In thought word and deed.

your spirt and celebration of life, and hopefulness shine through in this :)

Thank you, Ira, Bob and Pam.

Ira, I think I really am an optimist. Haha! I think it must come from my teacher instinct. :) I have to be positive whenever I teach. Nobody wants to have a miserably pessimistic mentor.

Pam, I am deeply touched by your comment. :) This tabblo will strike some familiar strings for Marius because he also likes taking pictures of people jumping--which we thought is a very Filipino thing. Haha. Glad to know you also love Mr. Updike. I read "Rabbit, Run" in college; then "Rabbit Redux" in my early twenties. I'm waiting for a few more years and I'll read "Rabbit is Rich". This way, I can keep Mr. Updike alive in my life as well. :) Thank you again, Pammie. :)
Sirnicolay said at 10:29 a.m. on Feb 1, 2009:
Thank you, too, Deb. I agree wholeheartedly with Updike's quote. :)
