The Wetlands Behind My Grandparent's House - South Hadley, Mass. 2008

This past Christmas when we brought my Grandparents back to their place, it suddenly dawned on me that I had never really wandered down into the wetlands beyond their back yard. Strange since I was all about exploring as a kid - but I figured better late than never. Since I had my camera with me and there was a great fog passing through, I finally headed in and got some shots.

The water used to get much higher, and my Mom's family would ice skate out here when she was a kid.

Coming back out of the wetlands into the back yard. The shed is over in the neighbor's yard.

Thanks. I was really trying to focus on getting some depth in the shots since there was such a great fog accenting it. I love finding opportunities like that.

Nice Black & White Photo's

Thanks everyone. It really surprised me how black and white the shots came out even though they're full color. You can see that most clearly in the picture with the mushrooms.

Oh yeah, and Monica, congratulations to your grandmother! My wife and I visited the Yankee Candle store on many Christmas trips to see the family back east. It always got me into the whole Christmas spirit. A bunch of our Christmas tree ornaments came from there and the whole area.

Wonderful Winter set of photos. I especially like the mushrooms leading into the foggy scene.

How atmospheric! One wouldn't wonder to meet fairies in that landscape. This misty world somehow asks for storytelling. Won't you invent one, Sean?
Grandbrother said at 5:56 a.m. on Feb 12, 2009:
We're working on a story that involves a forest like this one now, actually. "Hotel Transylvania".

These photos are awesome and kinda freak me out. They remind me of an M. Knight Shaymalan movie.
