They bulldoze the sand every now and then to mitigate erosion of the beach. It forms long sand dunes like this one, which is where we ended up sitting to watch the sunset. |
|
Anne and I live about a 15 minute walk from the beach in a small Southern Californian town called Playa del Rey. Late last month, we headed down to catch the sunset, and I finally just got around to sorting through the photos. I was playing around with exposure times - which is why some of the shots have the graininess to them that they do - but in most cases, it created an effect that I kind of liked. Gave the pictures a little bit of an older look. So here they are! |

I like how this one came out looking as if I was up in the air with the flying gull. |

Loved the bright red beak on this Heerman's Gull. They're unique to the Pacific coast, and breed almost exclusively on a single cluster of islands off the coast of Mexico. |

Once again, the lovely Anne. |

Don't get many shots of the two of us. |

Turning back towards Playa del Rey. We live to the left of frame, up over the hill. |

One of my absolute favorites from the day. |
