The tale of the friendship socks~Tarina ystävyyden sukista

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away....

Hi..may I join your circle?

An act of kindness and friendship...from the heart

2 pair hand made, 100% wool

A special friend

Me modeling my new socks

green or pink today???

And they lived happily ever after...:)

So now you wonder, what has this to do with socks????

One day my TABBLO friend Kris(who lives in Finland) made a Christmas TABBLO featuring some very nice handmade socks that her Mother made for her family each year.

I told Kris they were so very pretty and I jokingly asked her if her Mother could make some for me, as my own dear Mother is no longer here.

Rather silly I guess because I live in a place that is much warmer, where there is no snow, but it gets a little cold at times in our winters in Florida.

Kris would laugh, because compared to HER winters, this would be NOTHING! :)

She would think our weather is like her summer most of the time!

Anyway, she wrote me to ask my address, and a short time later I received a very special package ALL THE WAY from Finland to Florida...

I opened it with much excitement...and HOORAY!!!!! TWO beautiful pair of socks that are just perfect.

She even told me to wear a thin sock underneath so I would not get "itchy".

Then...a few days later...it got very cold!

Now you know the story, and why I call these the "FRIENDSHIP SOCKS"

Thank you Kris(and your Mom)

I love them!  :)

Two women met in the magical land called TABBLO.

This is a special place where people from all over the world can share their art as well as their hopes and dreams, laughter and tears, fears and disappointments, even recipes or a favorite piece of music, or literature.

In this land one can learn about other places in the world they may never see, as well as learn about people they may never meet and the way they live and the customs they have.

Some of these people get to know each other quite well and they  share emails, phone calls, and some have even gotten together in the "real" world and become true friends.

It is a classroom of the world ...promoting cooperation and tolerance, opening our eyes to see that even though we may live half the world away(or more)from each other,  we are really more alike than different.

We are all humans sharing this earth, and hopefully doing our best to live together in peace.

If only the world could be more like the magical land of TABBLO....what a wonderful world it would be.

JUST IMAGINE... :)

Thanks for the perfect story about Tabblo. And cool photos. It is all is devoted to friendship. I think, that as you warm socks (very warm and lovely) Tabblo are warmed by our loneliness. I very much ask to recollect it and to forget insults. All of us are be sharp and rough sometimes. We the people. We have different mood and sight on a thing around. We can do mistakes. I very much ask...

Hi Deb,
Because you do such good work and put such obvious emotion into it, you have a very large following. Within any large group there is bound to be one schnook (imagine what I was actually thinking;-). Please don't dwell on this one cretain. Your tabblo moved me (and I'm usually a relatively unemotional old f_rt) plus many others. PT
PS: I anticipated the "punchline" to the first, mis-match-socks photo was going to be "just two identical pairs in the world; one mine, one my friend's." Happy mis-read. P
Debdog said at 11:41 a.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
I found out the comment was by a person using another's computer, I received an apology from the REAL person behind the screen name ...it was very nice and Ii accepted it . :)

Debbie, I think you should make a proffession as "socks"-photographer for the future online-shop of Kris's mother's knitware. Look at the quantity of potential customers you have already aquired. I really like how you arranged the socks around the two wooden figures and on the nightstand. And really fine texting too.

Make sure, you visit Finland. Not only for the landscape, which is much like in Manitoba, but to meet the odd Finns. They are nearly as odd as the the Romans in Asterix. Trust me ;-))
