It had been a long time before I visited my alma mater last month. The University of the Philippines has always been my second home in Metro Manila. In my college years, I often thought about teaching in this great university, yet little did I know that I would eventually enjoy teaching in high school. I even took up some units for my Masteral Education, major in Anglo-American Literature. But two years ago, I lost interest, went AWOL, and busied myself with my work. Seeing the university again reminded me of so many things. It was the only witness to my dramatic transformation from being a timid and confused teenager to an awakened, liberal-minded young adult. It opened so many doors for me. The verdant expanse of the campus and even the strange architecture and paintings of the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice have always been a source of relaxation and inspiration. I'm glad that lately I've been able to visit the campus more often because I started running once again. I'm glad that at least I can always feel at home just whenever I want.
