In July, 2006 I backpacked with the people in photo #2 to Indian Henrys Hunting Grounds, a beautiful meadow at the base of Mt. Rainier. It was a return trip for me. On the 2nd day we day hiked on a good (except for the last ascent which is a slippery scramble) unmaintained trail up Pyramid Peak. You can see this peak in photo#1, far right side. From there, it's a glorious in-your-face view of Mt. Rainier. No photos from the summit: in the scramble to the top, I left my daypack on a rocky shoulder and forgot to bring my camera. You'll have to go there and see it for yourself. Don't forget mosquito repellant. The rustic cabin in the last picture is used by backcountry rangers. |
