Mt. Rainier: Indian Henrys Hunting Grounds

In July, 2006 I backpacked with the people in photo #2  to Indian Henrys Hunting Grounds, a beautiful meadow at the base of Mt. Rainier. It was a return trip for me. On the 2nd day we day hiked on a good (except for the last ascent which is a slippery scramble) unmaintained trail up Pyramid Peak. You can see this peak in photo#1, far right side. From there, it's a glorious in-your-face view of Mt. Rainier. No photos from the summit: in the scramble to the top, I left my daypack on a rocky shoulder and forgot to bring my camera. You'll have to go there and see it for yourself. Don't forget mosquito repellant. The rustic cabin in the last picture is used by backcountry rangers.

Looks like you had a great time. I have forgotten my camera in similar situations before but most times mine isn't the only one so I manage to get pictures from others.

How do you achieve such a soft effect?! I'm always going with BANG contrast, color....

awesome shots, looks like it was a great hike. Yeah, the soft effect... was it misty/foggy that day? I like it.

What a wonderful place - it's great to be in the mountains, but to often you forget to bring back the memories, so thank you for remembering your camera.

Beautiful! Maybe I will get there soon. I am almost ready to retire.

Thanks everyone for all the comments! Flash and Engelgrafik: the atmosphere was humid, warm and slightly overcast. That summer ('06) there were forest fires almost always somewhere in the Northwest, and a drifting haze of smoke softened the atmosphere.
