FRANK O'NEILL @ WALKER FINE ART

These photos were shot last November during my friend, Frank O'Neill's opening at the Walker Fine Art Gallery.

The link will take you to the gallery website, where you will find more of Frank's work, and many other fine artists that owner, Bobbie Walker, represents.

You can see Frank in photo #16, posing with his daughter Oona (wearing the pink poodle skirt) and her pals, in front of the portrait of his parents, titled: "Mom and Dad"

one medium to represent another ... the photos are as wonderful as the artworks on display

You are becoming an expert in "art gallery footage"- which is very good, because your tabs become a mix of fine art and good photography.

Your images really pull the veiwer into the event-- I like the different perspectives you shot from. Favorites are the three kids looking up smiling and the little boys arm around the Franks daughter is so sweet. All the shots through the netting add so much interest to the images--especially the one of Frank's daughter and that last one is Killer.

again, very exciting presentation of the gallery and the art. you make it look so "dope", I think I want to be an artissss too!! I'm a sucky art critic, so I'll just say I like what I can see, the heart montage for example. love the photo of Oona (what a cool name!) at the end of the metal (?) sculpture. will come back to study some more detail.

Love the way you have displayed your friend's art without it just being a catalogue of his work. Your photography of the show is equally impressive.

I find the 'Mom & Dad' painting almost surrealistic: The faux-leopard skin sofa cover, the conservative clothes they are wearing to watch TV, and the fact that they are looking above & beyond it, as if posing for a photograph or reading a prompt card. Maybe this is a frozen moment from the early sixties. It goes well with the dog and the vacuum cleaner painting.

classy tabblo!! :-) Åke

Pam this is a magnificent tabblo, full of wonderful photographs. I have to admit to being far more interested in the photography than the artwork and it is this that makes it a beautiful tabblo for me. Your photographs of the children are so natural and I love the way you have used the artwork to create your own as in the picture of Oona through the mesh.

I like those nets. What really breaks the tradition, in a positive way, is the kids. Art exhibitions at galleries often seem slightly snobbish and uptight. Not this time. :)
Pkeener said at 10:53 a.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
Thank you so much for taking the time to view and comment. It is really very difficult to take photos of artwork, especially when you know the artist! PRESSURE! Self imposed, of course. So i just did my thing, knowing i could never present the painitngs how they deserve to be, but recording the event and sprinling the art through it. Oona and her pals really made it fun. I have a follow up tabblo coming which features them.

Mike, i think Frank wiuld be pleased at your insight, as you seem to connect with his work. Being an artist, yourself, i was really happy to read your comment.
Farid, thank you, and great to see you!
Eduardo, hardly an expert, but i do enjoy it.
Liliana! Como esta? The last photo is my favorite, even though it doesn't speak of Frank's work.
Ake, Tak! ;)
Celia, I shot Oona first without flash, then asked her to pose with the flash on. even though it's a bit soft, i liked it better. thank you for your great comment
Linda and Annelies, you both know I was making this one for days...Leftie, you are an artiss!
Linda, it was easy. the sculptures were just begging to be used!

Remember Fran Lebowitz saying: "the perfect apartment is the first floor of the Metropolitan Museum. With a sofa."
That's how I feel about your galleries. Your photos. I could live in one.

Excellent photos and presentation, Pam. My favorite photos are #9, #11; #18 nd #23. Really amazing! Thank you!

You have a very Talented friend. I'll bet your very proud of him. Congratulations!
Pkeener said at 12:34 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
Leftie, I love that quote, and i am very flattered. You might not want to live in one of my photos while I am trying to make a tabblo, though!!
Edite, thank you!
Sandy, come on over and we can go together. Its a beautiful gallery.
Pat, i have known Frank for about 30 years and I can't tell you what a great friend and artist he is. I am very proud of him.
Hollyridger said at 12:53 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
Pam, this is one of your best ever tabblos - I think you have done a superb job, both technically and emotionally. Like Linda, my favourite is the one of the three children followed by the one with Frank and his daughter and pals standing in front of the painting of his parents - excellent photo and I love the art, too! If I lived in Denver I would be visiting this gallery every day. However difficult it is to photograph artwork , you nailed it, girl, with this superb set of photos.
Pkeener said at 6:51 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
Arthur, I really appreciate your comment. The nets are actually metal sculptures. Aren't they beautiful? They are the other artist's works. Jonathon Hils. He shared the show with Frank. The kids really did add a very welcome element to the show, and were very well behaved. Probaly because they are artists themselves. ;)

Noreen, my. That is about the best compliment I can imagine. That photo of Frank and the kidas was the only one I arranged. Frank is very shy, and was very reluctant to pose for me, so I figured, hey! a family portrait?? Please!??
Jigs said at 8:20 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
Thanks for the tour, Pam! My fave is the shot of little Oona through the net sculpture. I think it's wonderful that children start appreciating art at such a tender age - I'm sure their unfettered-by-biases perspective and laterally-thought insights would be really fresh and very interesting.
Debdog said at 9:28 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
i LOVE LOVE the shots of the metal sculptures!!!! beautiful Pam....what a pro job you have done /and DO!!! :) x Deb

Hey Pam - this is just great! This gallerie should hire you for their oficial fotos!!! i like espacially the little girl at the end of the net and the 2 women infront of the parents of your friend - looks like they have a conversacion..jeje Pretty good job Pam!!! Thanks!

Interesting and unusual art. Remarkable gallery. Interesting shots of the people looking at works of art.
Mariusblack said at 11:00 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
thank you for bringing me to another gallery which i don't think i'll ever be able to go to. hehe. i especially like how you started this tabblo, the proper introduction and teaser and how you ended it on a very high note- the guests and artworks. The sculptures are wicked! number #9 feels very james bond-ish in a futuristic sense. hehe! congrats on another beautiful show, pammie! =)
Noe said at 11:00 p.m. on Feb 25, 2009:
Great shots Pam, fantastic exhibition too! Beautiful gallery by the way... =)
Abking said at 12:54 a.m. on Feb 26, 2009:
These are really good, Pam. I like the paintings and sculpture, but they become part of the overall space in your tasty conceptions.

Love the portrait of the 3 brats....sorry......the 3 children!
Mtorourke said at 1:21 a.m. on Feb 26, 2009:
Pamela you really have something with that last picture. I would love to see that one blown up. The heavy male energy from individuals in the picture and how it is all unconsciously interconnects in a web. This is just a poor description of something primal this picture evokes.
Krisu said at 10:24 a.m. on Feb 26, 2009:
Feels like I was in that exhibition, too! Great shots, Pam!

The last one is great!! Its an other atmosphere in it.
Pkeener said at 9:14 a.m. on Feb 27, 2009:
Heidi, it was like another atmosphere, and while it doesn't show Fran's work, it gives such a great feel to the gallery
Hi Gerard, thank you, friend
Sydney, it's always a pleasure to hear from you, and I admire your artistic talent, as well.
Kris! You would have enjoyed shooting this show.
Michael, I think the artists would love your copy for their statements on the show! you got it in a nutshell! thank you
Charles, they were far from being brats, which can be so annoying when kids are unleashed at gatherings such as these.
Thank you Allan!
Jigs, these kids are so fortunate to be exposed and raised with art infused in their everyday lives. thank you!
Deb, Sue, Ira, thank you for viewing and taking the time to comment. Pro, Deb, I wish! not quite yet
Karsten, I followed that couple for several shots. They were so engrossed in the art. As were pretty much all the people. Frank's work is very evocative.
Noe, it is a beautiful gallery, which helped give atmosphere to my photos.
M! thank you for noticing the tabblo sequence, as you know, we both share a delight in the layout and execution of the shots, and it really makes me happy when you get the workings of my mind..yikes!

Hey, Pam sorry to arrive so late, been busy. This certainly has the "feel" of an opening. The first picture reminds me of a variation of "American Gothic". Oona, cool name and cool 50's poodle skirt. I like the last shot, what a tangle web we weave.
