TENT PEGGERS OF PAKISTAN by UMAIR GHANI

Tent pegging is an aggressive equastrian sport in the rural heartlands of Punjab, Pakistan. Despite war against terror raging in various parts of the country, these horsmen continue to display manly vigor and skills to the eye of the beholder.

#3. How did you capture it? The light and action...
These men doing a much needed thing. Relaxing in the midst of their strife and serious daily living.
I love this

Umair said at 1:42 a.m. on May 13, 2009:
Thanx everyone for encouraging feedback. dear Pkeener, I have been photographing these tent peggers for more than five years now and with trail and error and experience know feel confident enough to handle the whole 3 day event pretty well. This paricular event had some 400 tent peggers. I have learnt that best shots come out from right in the front. The image you ask about was taken slightly angled position, sitting on the ground, pretty close the the peg with a Canon 70-210mm lens mounted on Canon 40D DSLR. I took meter reading prior to shot and adjusted manual settings accordingly, the setting the camera to 6.5 frames/ sec I waited for action to happen and finally ended up with wht I really liked so much myself. The action is fast and furious and accidents happen so frequently, so having a safe position and the right frame needs experience. Regards!
