SURPRISE! |
I felt that this was the most appropriate title to give as a retrospective Tabblo of English Advanced simply because being in English Advanced was all a surprise to me. Before, English was just a subject where I can lay back and have fun. The biggest shock came in the Second Quarter, when Mr. Aragon told me I had to get out! I was at the doorway screaming "Don't let me out! Noooooo!" (just kidding 'bout the screaming part) I thought that English Advance would spell my doom like SirEdge did last year*tears* But, it was really the greatest surprise for me when it did turn out to be fun under Mr. Nicolay.

TOP 3 TABBLOS OF THE YEAR: |
#1: Through the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness(Sonnet Tabblo) |

Among all my activities and Tabblos I would say this one is the best. But why, you ask? Simply because this was the activity where I learned that I could be a poet, that I am not limited to being a literary loser who could never make a poem or short story that was nice. Through this activity I was able to learn how to make sonnets and hone my sonnet making skills. |
#2 Blank Love |
"Blank Love" was my second best Tabblo because I not only had fun making this Tabblo as i was able to be very creative in making this and I was also able to place in lyrics from some of my favorite songs that had something to do with love. I believe that what made each of my activities noteworthy is that I either inserted some really random things or some poetic things in them. |

This one was my third best Tabblo simply because I also had some good fun making this humorous Tabblo as I made a lot of corny puns and jokes that just made me feel giddy making them and just feel bad for making so many bad puns in there. |
BEST COMPOSITION OF THE YEAR : "Who watches the watchmen? You Should!" |
This one would have to be my best composition throughout my entire time in English Advanced simply because the rest of my compositions were just terrible as seen in my grades. I believe that some of my activities i.e. my compositions were weak because I was just not that good in grammar and making nice stories/reports/anything. |

BEST REQUIRED LITERARY PIECE OF THE YEAR:"Chinese Cinderella" |

"Chinese Cinderella" is a novel written by Adeline Yen Mah a famous chinese author who wrote "Falling Leaves" which was an autobiography of her life, "Chinese Cinderella" is actually a revised edition of her autobiography "Falling Leaves". "Chinese Cinderella" is the story of a little girl who is unwanted by her family because they believe that Adeline(the little girl) had killed their mother and being a traditional chinese family they believed her to be bad luck, it is also a tale of the struggle, desperation and pain an unwanted daughter has to face. "Chinese Cinderella" which is actually cheaply priced is worth every cent as the story is heartwarming, touching and can make you feel very sympathetic to the main character and engrossed by the detailed telling of how horrible things were yet there were still some happy moments that would touch anyone's heart. Compared to "Falling Leaves", "Falling Leaves" is better as it is a more detailed edition of "Chinese Cinderella" that any more experienced readers would enjoy but for those people who do not want too much time drained or who are just casual readers should read "Chinese Cinderella" as it still a beautiful, heartwarming story about the life of Adeline Yen Mah. All in all "Chinese Cinderella" is a great novel with an amazing and hearwarming story that any casual reader would enjoy because of its simplicity. |

FINAL REGARDS/ FINAL FAREWELLS |

Throughout the year I realized that I am weak at grammar and compositions, but I also realized that I am quite good at reading and writing other stuff like sonnets. I actually had problems with getting used to the different lessons, activities and ways of making our portfolio entries and compositions. I was able to get used to the system eventually(with enough questions to Eric Sy and Timothy Ong which annoyed them severely). The activity that helped me as a learner and a person the most was the sonnet Tabblo as through that activity I realized I can actually be quite good at making poetry if I think and work hard enough to make it(approx 1 1/2 weeks of thinking) and I can do anything I set my mind to(cliché, I know). Looking back at my portfolio, I feel really happy that over time my portfolio entries became better and better and Looking back at my English Advanced class I believe my performance became better as well, We had a great teacher who had given very detailed and well given explanations to the poems, stories and novels we read, We also had a very participative class who always knew what the answer to most of the questions given. |
To Mr.Nicolay, Eric Sy, Tim Ong and all the other people of English Advanced who helped me get used to the new ways of English advanced and helped me learn more things, I would like to give a farewell and as Shakespeare said in Romeo and Juliet "Parting is such sweet sorrow" but I also want to say "Wheee It's summer time! see you all next year!" P.S. That's me with the mic in the picture above, if you're wondering why I have a mic in my hands it was because Tim Ong put it in my hands and I decided to make another surprise on our last English Advanced session and in our last photo as a class.
