Some of you will know that Crete is a very special place for me. Over the years it has had a magnetic attraction for me and has drawn me back time and time again.I now spend 3-4 months of the year on this magical island. These are a few pictures (that I have scanned and restored) of my first visit to Crete.in February 1981.

Some lovely pre-digital shots of the island, Celia. In a way it looks as though time has stood still here, preserving a way of life that is more simple than the frenetic world we live in.

Thank you Kevin, it was!
Mike, thank you very much. In fact Crete has changed a great deal in the intervening years especially in the towns and the villages near the coast, although traveling in the mountains it can still feel as though one is traveling back in time!

I am glad that I found this one. Crete seems to be an island out of Earth. It entices reflections, thoughts, and contemplation. Maybe one day I will be able to visit such a beautiful island. Thanks so much, Celia! You bring a better world to all of us at Tabblo!
