Raindrops, Puddles and Forest smells

Lohbrügge, 15.03.2009

An an hour before dusk

Rain poured down the entire day, only in the late afternoon it decided to take a break. I could do with a breath of crispy forest air, rich with the lovely smell just after rain. So I left my computer and my books behind a closed door and left. On my way to the forest I examinded the front porches of the neighbourhood and came upon these snowbells. It weren't the flowers that caught my eye at first, but the perfectly shaped waterdrops. They shimmered in the light and looked like christal balls. I just had to crouch down to have a closer look.

My trouthers were a bit muddy afterwards, but who cares, when being absorbed by such shiny little perls.

Walking along a public path between the bungalows and crossing the road I entered the "Trittauer Staatsforst" and sucked a deep breath of spicy freshness into my lungs.

Luckily I needn't turn into the pathes below!

I would rather follow this mother with her daughter on a slightly less dissolved track, which leads to the pastures and acres on the Havighorster Redder.

At the skirts of the wood...

...the next rain shower is already in sight.

Anke this is a delightful tabblo and worth getting your trousers wet and muddy! You have had a great deal of rain over there and it is still looking a bit wintry. Your pictures of the snowdrops are perfect and you have caught those raindrops like little jewels.

Tjena Lars, tack så mycket för Dina snälla ord.

Hi Celia, This was two weeks ago. I actually think the meteorological April has already started. Last Saturday on a trip I had brilliant sunshine an 17° C and ate outside at a pub, the day after was stormy and fresh, then followed two days of snow showers during the week and now it seems to be 15-17° C again. Still dry but it looks like rain will come later in the day. However next week shall be brilliant so I can enjoy my day off on Monday and Tuesday.

I see, here are a lot of forest friends! Thanks to all of you for your compliments.

Andre, This "uncivilized" area is just a minature wood with maybe 4-6 forest tracks directly at Hamburg's border, about three minutes from my door step. Bergedorf being the second biggest distrect of the city I fear, we cannot offer much true wilderness here, but Hamburg is for sure a very green metropolitan. However for true wilderness I recommend Oslo. From its city outskirts you can start directly on a long distance mountain hike from cabin to cabin to Bergen. And I don't think you will meet many roads on the way across the Hardangarvidda.

The photos are superb. My Jeep would love the muddy path. Too bad the logging is taking it's
toll on the woods. In my part of the world there no snowbells so I appreciate your pics of them,
especially with the raindrops. Great eye for detail.

It was worth it Anke~ Thank you for braving the muddy earth and showing us the treasures of the forest!
Debdog said at 1:26 p.m. on Mar 29, 2009:
your photography is superb!
Moorlerche said at 1:55 p.m. on Mar 29, 2009:
Thanks a lot everybody. Debbie and Rhonda, I love nature too. I feel suffocated, if I have to stay indoors the whole week. In this part of the world one has to learn to accept rain and mud if one wants to get a sniff of fresh air. In the end it's all question of a good rain jacket and watertight hiking boots, isn't it ;-)

Well done, Anke! Have a great week.

Wieder eine schöne Wanderung, Anke. Der Wald tut uns so gut, nur sind wir uns dessen leider viel zu selten bewußt.
