Play Ball!

The skyline came from the top of Shea Stadium’s scoreboard. The Twin Towers, at far left, were covered in a ribbon after 9/11.

Let’s Go Mets!

Play Ball!

Red Sox vs. Mets, Citi Field, April 4, 2009

I continued playing around with HDR at the stadium, except I did not have a tripod, and often the subjects — such as baseball fans and players, and the trees in the heavy wind — were moving. So the images usually did not exactly line up from one exposure to the next, resulting in the feel of looking at a 3D movie without the 3D glasses.

The same scene four months earlier, Shea Stadium still standing.

Everyone was checking out their new park for the first time.

The old home run apple from Shea Stadium.

The dwindling pile of rubble where Shea Stadium once stood.

The main entrance opens into the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, honoring number 42.

Just five months ago, Shea Stadium would have taken up half of this scene.

Sing along with Mr. Met … “Take me out to the ball game, take me out to the crowd, …”.
