Friday Afternoon in New York

Flowers outside Macy’s, 34th Street.

Sheep Meadow, Central Park

Several long exposures then combined. Grand Central Terminal is surely a NY must-see, especially at rush hour.

Friday Afternoon

in New York

The Brooklyn Bridge. Grand Central Terminal. Central Park.

I decided to do some more experimentation with HDR, on subjects I had photographed often before, especially Grand Central and the bridge.

I was very pleased with some of the results, but I am concerned other ones, especially of the park, look too artificial. Maybe it’s because we’re not used to seeing photos with such detail in the foreground and in the clouds, without using neutral-density filters? What do you think?

I rested the camera against ledges and railings with a bean bag and a table-top tripod.

I’m not sure if I prefer the black-and-white or color version.

Have to agree with Debbie, good composition of the bridge, just love the combined long exposures, break the rules of photography and yet got some very good results

Saul--another stunning set. The Grand Central exposures give the appearance of time passing. Almost look like painting. The park shots are super compositions. Excellent framing in all the images. I think the park shots seem to be over sharpened which starts to give it more of a graphics art appearance. Which is fine if that's the look you are going for. I think my fav is the first--it maintains a true photographic quality. And the detail you captured is primo.

Saul, It's like I'm in dream..HDR brings you to another world and you obviuously know your way there.

Maybe it has all been said, Saul. What a terrific set. Those skies are so dramatic, and the shots of the combined long exposures at Grand Central are work of art. It all works for me. A fave.

Very cool work on my favorite city to photograph. I really like #1 and the long exposure at Gr Central. I don't like the saturation of the park so much, but I do admire your work and applaud your efforts! #7 is very nice, too.
