Eleven undergraduates read works in progress on 16 April 2009 in Vets' Hall at the Ellison Campus Center at Salem State College. Their faculty mentors include Kevin Carey, Perry Glasser, J.D. Scrimgeour, Ann Taylor, and Rod Kessler, who introduced the evening's program. Salem State College offers writing classes and workshops in all genres at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The reading marked the debut of SOMEONE ELSE'S BLUE, Senior James Connatser Jr.'s poetry chapbook, published at the college by the Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. The reading was a program of the English Department, under the aegis of the Center.
