Wow. Such an excellent collection of images!
Umauma said at 8:45 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Fantastic Pam...I felt like I was there...What memories those streets hold! Something very tragic about the city...Ghosts!!! Just wait till some developers turn it into Vegas - NewOrleans style or Disneyland a la New Orleans!
Kbass9 said at 9:02 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Girl! What are you doin in New Orleans? You DO get around!
Fascinating Tabblo, love all the color! Perfect title. I like the buskers, the night shots, yeah, the yellow mailbox, great and the 2nd photo, great doors.
Umauma...scary thought!

Pam, there are things that do not have many comments in my opinion. This Tabblo is one. Simply beautiful.
Leftofcenter said at 9:47 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Tumba, tumba, tumba, Mardi Gras
Tumba, tumba, tumba, day...
Ira said at 9:56 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
I very much like your realistic photos. Filled by the sun and heat of a street of city. Heat. And night cool. It not cards, but life. Not covered by luster of magazines. Remarkable photos!
Chilla said at 10:17 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Pam this is a great Tabblo. There is so much to see and digest it is fascinating!
Pattymaryclare said at 10:22 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Quite the tour of Au Quartier Pam! All the pics were way cool yet the one that intrigued me most was the middle one you shot thru a cutout of some kind - almost looked like insulation? plus the mailbox i think?? that looks like a purse! Very neat place that I've never been but wanted to. PMC
Pattymaryclare said at 10:24 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
P.S and the last shot SO YOU........(and your feets lol)
Pkeener said at 10:34 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Patty, that shot is an out of focus door that leads to a courtyard..I did it to draw your attention in. thank you!

Hey Guys! Thank you so much for taking the tour with me. I was in NO for Jazz Fest and we flew in a day early. I think this was the best time I ever had in the French Quarter. I have been several times, over 30 years. It is truly 2 completely different worlds by Day and by Night. We had a perfect sunny day to take photos. The streets were practically empty, which changed in a heartbeat that evening, with onslaught of the people coming for Jazz Fest.

I have been every year since Katrina, and I have to say, this was the first time it almost looked back to normal. Katrina's mark is still evident everywhere in the city, but this year, the Quarter seemed to be shining again. The painted walls like jewels, the sounds of music and street life, the hustlers, gypsies and tourists, the aroma of the yummy food...
The French Quarter is and always will be a unique and special place. Unless, as Michelle says, it gets Disneyized. With THE DONALD investing, who knows what will happen next. Maybe the VooDOo Queens will take care of that!! ;)

Hollyridger said at 11:26 a.m. on May 22, 2009:
Superb, Pam! I love the shot of the two musicians. As always, you have a wonderful 'eye' for this type of photography - my favourite. Mustn't forget to mention the bright yellow mailbox (I think that is what it is!), superbly composed.

Pkeener said at 1:35 p.m. on May 22, 2009:
Noreen, you won't believe this, but that same woman fiddle player was in Lafayette on Saturday, 2 days later, in the same outfit, hooked up with another guitar player. We cracked up when e saw her, and i took a photo, of course!

Grazie, Shector
Meegs, it was the best outing I can remember in quite some time.

Stay tuned..a few more to come from the City of New Orleans!

Nice tour, thx for sharing!! Makes me feel relaxed : )
Abking said at 3:24 p.m. on May 22, 2009:
This has a quiet calm I don't usually associate with NO. Maybe it's because everyone focuses on the wilder night scene. I've never been there and like this alert-eyed walk with you. Bits of red recur like a minor theme, and I like the one of the guy in red shirt with bike with red basket hitched to horse-head posts. The green wall/yellow mail box/blue accent photo made a strong color field image. Like them all! Another fine Pam set.
Liliana said at 5:14 p.m. on May 22, 2009:
Beautiful walk with you by this place, Pam!!! I love the mailboxes!!!!! And the fachades, the doors, the bikes... everything. Really, I enjoyed your point of view in each pic!!! Gret great great job!
Karsten said at 5:59 p.m. on May 22, 2009:
Hey Pam - this is just a suberb tour with so many eye-catching details! great iron-work (and it´s shadows!), the sercret back yard, the mail box and of course the "u need a bisquet" on bourbon-street! Just fantastic - thanks for the tour!
Gerardfotografeert said at 6:02 p.m. on May 22, 2009:
Wow Pam, awesome job and catch that you've made with this tabbo. I love the doors and the pastel shades.Very inspiring for me. Thank you and wel done.
Pkeener said at 7:29 p.m. on May 22, 2009:
HEy, guys. thank you.
Jourma, you know, it was relaxing that day. But that night it was a mad house!
Henke, i appreciate that.
Bertil. A playground of light and color, shapes and shadows.
Liliana, I am glad you enjoyed my point of view, as you know, it is a bit unusual at times.
Karsten, there are so many secret courtyrds behind the wrought iron gates. I got so tired I had to quit taking pics.
Gerard, i imagine New Orleans to be much like the old cities in Europe. The architectture and the colors. The narrow streets and cobblestones.

Sodom and Gomorrah is looking real fine after the "Righteous Hand of the Lord
' tried to sweep it away. If this is hell let us PARTY ON. I like the "peeping tom shots" and the mail box.

Karsten, Snickers are the perfect pick me up! I always love an excuse to eat one.

John, the S&G reference is just perfect. This side of the quarter keeps the hell side at bay for about 12 hours!

Doreen, it was so intriguing!
Hi Deb. Thank you so much. NOLA is a photographer's playground!
AliDar said at 2:03 a.m. on May 27, 2009:
Locked up, wired up and boarded up... It seems so inhospitable in the day time, (though I would have liked to check out that Clover Grill. Bet it serves breakfast all day long.) I love the simple shots of the doors and windows, the little hide-a-way places behind the gates, the old bricks and the blue and green with the yellow mailbox. ... Who's NOLA?
Umair said at 3:58 a.m. on May 27, 2009:

Pkeener said at 6:39 p.m. on Jun 16, 2009:
Dan the sign was actually Don't even think of F____ing Parking here. someone had penciled it in.
Edu, it is very much alive, if not twisted!
