The Dining Club back in the limelight :-)

Finally the Dining Club was able to reconvene after a hiatus of many years due to the unavailability of most of its members who have been relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi for their diplomatic, athletic and spiritual feat.

 

The DC was spotted at Kaygetsu restaurant in Menlo Park, CA partaking in a Kaiseki dinner and laughing their heads off... something about carpal tunnel ...

Sashimi

Takiawase (slow-cooked dish)

 

Daikon, broccoli rabe, celery and carrot cooked in clear fish broth , with minced shrimp, kudzu sauce

Sakizuke (starter)

 

Foie gras chawan mushi, strawberry ponzu sauce, langue de chat, ikura, chevril

Hassun (assortment of flavors)

 

Soy milk and grated potato soup with chves (vichysoisse nipponne.)

Flounder "chimaki" , fresh yuba (tofu skin), grilled shitake and mitsuba with wasabi, bamboo shoot with chicken deep fried, shiso and plum pasted, salted fava beans

Yakimono (grilled dish)

 

Sawara mackerel, marinated in miso and grilled fresh edamame, pickled daikon and carrot. (no pic, yours truly were too busy laughing)

 

Gohan mono (rice dish)

 

Rice cooked with asari clams, dark red miso with tofu

Desserts

 

Honeydew melon gelee with whip cream and lemon syrup

Kashiwa mochi (rice cake wrapped with oak leaf) with asuki bean filling and fresh strawberry

The Dining Club

highly recommends that you add the Kaiseki to your bucket list :-) and  remember to make time for your good ole' friends :-)
