Randall-a lot of the trails are on rock and marked by cairns. Just when you think there is no way up or down, a stack of small rocks will mark the way.

Pkeener said at 1:08 p.m. on May 28, 2009: mere words will not describe the feeling i get when i look at these photos and the tabblo in toto.
beautiful work. again, i can't imagine taking the hike AND taking the photos. Such an artistic endeavor, Allan. That one little sunflare on her sunglasses is exquisite. You captured the magic of the light and color in the first shot, the story telling just unfolds in your photos through the angles composition and colors that add up to YOU
Abking said at 8:02 p.m. on May 28, 2009: Thanks Eduardo, Marius, Wendy, Mirella, Karsten, Den, Pam. I got lucky with the sunflare, Pam. You'd love the place. It's magic!
Lifequest22 said at 1:05 p.m. on May 29, 2009: Allan--Makes me want to go back to Utah...I made it to a lot of the parks but missed the Canyonlands. Well, I guess I'm going to have to settle for enjoying the park vicariously through your amazining images. Love your camp--actually some trees for shade.
Pkeener said at 8:43 p.m. on May 29, 2009: Allan, PS I love the petroglyphs! remind of Hawaii

Gerardfotografeert said at 5:48 p.m. on Jun 1, 2009: Wow, very awesome. This must be a fascinating hike. Great shots and tabblo but what a beautiful landscape.Wow.
Abking said at 7:29 p.m. on Jun 1, 2009: Thanks Linda, Pam, David, James, Gerard. The petroglyphs/drawings are real. The site is called Newspaper Rock, and you can see why. Many Ancient People passed by and left their mark. It is not actually in the boundary of Canyonlands. It is close to the road as you drive to the park entrance. For me, it is Canyonlands because you can't get to the trail head without going by this site. And it is remarkable!
