My Dad was in the 7th Armored Division in World War 2.  By some small miracle he was pulled out of his tank because he was a pianist, and made part of a band comprised of other guys from his division.

 

He lost a brother in the war, as did my mother.

Super photos to post today. Glad your Dad made it back home safely. The band pic brings to mind "Boggie Woogie Bugle Boy" by the Andrew Sisters and other great songs from the era.

Chris, my dad was also in an orchestra, and was in the Quartermaster core, so he didn't do combat. LOve the second shot! I see where you get yr good looks.
