On Saturday, I volunteered to take pictures at a small charity event and had the opportunity to practice portraits ( I don't do many)

 

Here are some of the photographs

It was fun, I learned a lot, they liked them and money was raised.

 

All good ! Everyone had a good time :) 

I got to experiment with a few different techniques,and they were fun to work with...even the kids :)

 

These were all shot in a hair salon, with a sheet as my backdrop, and natural window light, plus some outdoor shooting which was a challenge because it was noon time... generally the WORST time to shoot due to the intense sunlight.

 

The models were Miss Flagler Beach, the runner up, then Junior Miss Flagler Beach

 
Trying b/w and natural side light to get some pretty rim light on the facial features

Happy birthday Debra! Lovely protraits. I know it's so much fun. Had a b/w photo course once in Sweden the teacher being a newspaper photographer, and he really taught us to work with the positioning of artificial like, and looking at the person from various angles before taking the first shot. That was so inspiring, and when developing those shots the results proved to be astonishing. Like yours. I favour the three women together, for it has such a natural air about it. And the boy is a stunner. He probably wonders if he could snatch a sweet undetected.

I think about doing modeling or portraits photography but i never get around to it,For not doing many portraits theses photos look great Deb since i alway battle with anything with a white background.

Wonderful Tabblo! A photographer can only get this quality of pictures if the group (persons, and photographer) creates a perfect atmosphere and communication and stay so cool. Beautiful girls, beautiful mother and children, and a handsome little boy! Your writing to the tabblo is perfect. You talk about the technical things, you present some rich quotations that fit so well. And you talk about yourself. Borrowing from one of Bobbie's tabblo titles (Bossa Nova Clouds, if I am not wrong), this is a Bossa Nova Perfect Picture set! Great pictures Deb. I think my favourite picture is the one with the three girls. It evokes fun and friendship. The B&W makes the facial expressions pop!
