2009 Colorado Springs Relay for Life

This was our first year doing the relay.  We enjoyed it.  We were there from about 5:30pm - 7:30am.  Kurt and I took the late shift, he walked 1-3:30am and I walked 3:30-6am!  It rained some of the time and Kurt got Soaked.  But he kept walking.  We also walked from 11pm-12am together.  And for the team lap at 7pm.  I happened to be walking the track when the luminaria ceremony started.  We had a Pulled pork and beans dinner from Texas Roadhouse, a midnight spagetti dinner from The olive Garden and Pancake Breakfast from Teh Village Inn.  There were all kinds of contests going on and an 80's fashion show.  jason hung out with 2 friends from school he bumped into and they played football.  Patrick and matthew spent alot of time in the bouncy house and running around.  they fell asleep in the tent around 12:00.  Our team of 10 people raised about $2500!  Can't wait to do it again next year!

I love your personal touch. I was a bit "gun-shy" about describing my relationships to those in my Realy for Life tabblo, and identifying people on the internet without getting their permission (they probably wouldn't have minded; lazy me, I guess).

The Fort Collins event is less about the walk (which is how I got into it in the first place -- I love to walk!), and more about celebrating cancer survivors (or celebrating the end of a fund-raising year). I don't know if people were walking all night; our team didn't stay, but it was great fun -- with a very serious side, of course -- and we'll probably do it again. How could I stay away, with so many friends, co-workers, and relatives who've been touched by cancer?

A very personal tabblo. I wish it would be chosen as TOD for it is such an important message: not to loose hope, valueing every day. And not to loose strength, endurance and love, when you know the case is lost.
