Grandpa Kate and Grandma Jitt bought a new pop-icicle maker, so everyone was excited to try it. The barrel was made of resin and decorated with small elephants.  The elephants looked realistic enough that Tanya refused to touch them initially.

We started by putting salt and ice in the barrel then fill small cylindrical tubes with various colored syrups, coffee, Ovaltine, Pepsi, and orange juice. We then fitted the tubes inside the barrel and turned on the machine.  The barrel would rotate alternately in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.

We waited a bit for the liquid to turn into semi-solid gel before putting sticks into the tube.  If we put the sticks in the beginning, the sticks would be thrown against the side of the tubes due to the barrel rotation.

Aunty Kik, Aunty Nid, and the kids had a lot of fun making these pop-icicles.  They each had at least four sticks and we had many more stored in the freezer.

วันนี้ฤกษ์งามยามดี ได้ลองเครื่องทำไอติมอันใหม่เอื่ยม ที่ปู่่ย่าซื้อมา ไม่ใช่เครื่องปั่นไอติมแบบใส่นมนะคะ แต่เป็นไอติมหลอดแบบที่เราเห็นตามงานวัด

ที่เวลาทำคนต้องเขย่าๆหมุนๆน่ะค่ะ แต่ของเราทันสมัยกว่า แค่เสียบปลั๊กแล้วเจ้าเครื่องวิเศษนี่จะหมุนเอง รูปร่างก็คล้ายๆถังเบียร์ ทำจากเรซิน มีรูปช้างอยู่รอบๆด้วย ซึ่งตอนแรกธัญญาไม่กล้าจับ กลัวเป็นช้างจริง

ก่อนจะเริ่มก็ต้องใส่เกลือและน้ำแข็งในถังก่อน แล้วเราก็เตรียมทั้งน้ำแดง น้ำส้ม น้ำกาแฟ โอวัลติน และเป๊บซี่  จากนั้นเทน้ำหวานใส่ในหลอด แล้วก็เอาไปหย่อนไว้ในถังซึ่งมีตะแกรงเป็นช่องวงกลมพอดีกับความกว้างของหลอด พอเปิดสวิตช์ปุ๊บ..เครื่องก็หมุนซ้ายหมุนขวา รอซักพักให้แข็งเป็นวุ้นแล้วค่อยเสียบไม้ เพราะถ้าเสียบตอนแรก ไม้จะถูกเหวี่ยงไปติดกับด้านข้าง

โอย..ทั้งอากิ๊ก ป้านิด และเด็กๆสนุกสนานและวุ่นวายกันมาก เด็กๆอยากช่วยในทุกขั้นตอน ช่วยเทน้ำหวานใส่หลอด ช่วยเรียงใส่ถัง ช่วยเสียบไม้ แล้วก็...ช่วยกิน!!  รวมๆแล้วกินกันไปคนละ 4 แท่งได้เลยล่ะ แล้วยังเหลือเก็บไว้ในตู้เย็นสำหรับกินได้อีกหลายวันด้วย
