One of the first things given to a child is a name. This name helps everyone differentiate the child from other people. This is the first sense of identity formed within a person. |
I am Raphael Ku, born on December 1, 1992. I exist. I am no longer just a name. I am an individual. I enjoy reading and playing video games. I procrastinate things to the last minute. i spend a lot of time at home. All of these things form my identity. Although the world has influenced my choices, I myself chose these things to be a part of me, a part of my identity. |
As we grow older, this prototype identity slowly changes. The world around us starts to influence our very existence. |

by our surroundings, |

by our friends, |

and by our failures and successes. |

While these factors may shape our identity, it does not define us. I am not my mother, my father or my brothers. My identity is not defined from my surroundings, the friends I make, or my failures and successes.
It is still up to me to create my identity. I am still my own person |
