Identity is not something built overnight. It is constructed over years of experiences and questions. But your choices are the ones which truly make you who you are. So CHOOSE, who do YOU want to be? |

~ One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye; it transcends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity. ~ -Ralph Waldo Emerson |

Who are you?
When asked this question what would you say? The common response would be to say your name which is simple enough, but what happens when the question becomes deeper.
What happens if someone asks what DEFINES you? What makes you DIFFERENT from all the others? It is still the same question, but this one is deeper. A lot more difficult to answer. |

In a society where everyone is expected to act a certain way in order for it to function, it becomes a difficult for a person to truly know his identity. Each of us are forced to conform to the constraints of society..
As social beings we need to belong to a community in order to feel safe and protected, but at the same time we want to be unique. We desperately search for our identity to avoid the feeling of being lost and to be given a purpose. With every unique experience and unique choice, we are given an opportunity to develop our own person. We are able to see who we truly are. |

My name is Jan Yu and I am a 17 year old student studying in Xavier School. I actually have a difficult time choosing my identity because I really don't know myself that well. I have been around so much different environments and people that it left me confused. I am at that crossroad in life where I have to think of what type of person I want to be in the future. Even so, it is still an unclear image. I do know that I love to play sports and I try to keep active as much as I can. As you can see, there are know pictures of myself in this tabblo. That is because I am a very shy person. I would rather stay under the radar than have everybody talking about me. |

But those things are just a few things which can be said about my identity. Personally I find it impossible to truly define an identity in just a few sentences or a single statement. A person's identity is too deep and holds too much meaning to even begin to be explained. |
