Fourth of July: The Daylight Hours (for the most part)

We enjoyed a lazy day waiting to get ready to leave for DC.  Myself, I got out my new tripod and started experimenting with the exposure on my camera.  Love the fact that in the picture above, my older son and my husband are fairly still.  My youngest?  He's a little more active.

Over to the left here is Keegan the Headless Ghost.  Beware.

Off to the city we went.  Ah, DC!  Home to amazing festivals, flowers, dead birds, and socks.

Ok, before you go off on me taking pictures of dead things (I do from time to time...I have a picture of a dead fish at the Tidal Basin as well), immediately after I took this picture in front of a disgusted little boy (not mine)...that same child found a stick so he could play "let's poke the dead birdie".  Who's the sick one now?

We arrived at the Mall around 6 pm.  It was starting to fill up, so we staked out a spot.  While my husband and older son left to grab us some grub at Potbelly's, Keegan and I tried to entertain ourselves.  While he made little challenges for himself and played with rocks, I played with the camera.  I love a crowd...always interesting people there.

And day turned into twilight...

That's when I got to start playing with the exposure...

Cameras are fun.

I recommend them to everyone.

Wildthing and Moabjeeper...thanks for the comments. I agree that cameras can be work, but the day that the work overrides the fun and the happiness photography gives me...that will be the day I stop taking pictures. Taking pictures makes me happy, so it doesn't really seem like work to me. It's just fun. :)
