Hot Rods Unlimited was given the opportunity to display cars at the auto show as a result of our involvement with the Cruisin' for a Cure fundraiser.
What was really cool about this, was that we were on the main floor with all of the new vehicle manufacturers' like Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc. We were tucked into a corner next to Mazda, but we had a crowd coming through that beat many of the manufacturers.
Club members took turns manning the booth to make sure the cars weren't being touched and to explain about CFAC.

Setup was the night before the show opened to the public.... |

... you would have thought that by covering the cars would have been a good idea... |

Now, Slurpees are always a good idea...but.... |
... what we didn't know was going to happen was a black tie charity function... |

... the same night!!! |
Here I was in shorts and a dirty tee shirt, and an announcement is being made the public will be let in 15 minutes from now... |

... I scrambled to get all of the covers off, hide them under a table, dust everything off and.... |

... then here comes everyone all dressed up and I look worse than the convention center maintenance workers... |

...In the end the only damage done was that on Al's coupe... |

...the cover had stuck to the hot headers....not a good thing! |

At this point, we couldn't wait for the show to open to the public, but then... |

...this weird creature thing came wandering by... |

... we kept trying to avoid it but.... |

... it finally came into our booth looking for something to eat I guess.... |

....you tell me what it is.... |

It seemed friendly enough at the time, but still muttered something about food... |

...when we said we didn't have any, it said a hug would be fine....so we volunteered Jobella.... turned out he was a bit frisky if you know what I mean... |

... and then it happened...hunger pains took over and Jobella was going to be dinner! |

... or they were making out...I didn't stick around to find out which.... |

Then the doors were opened to the public... |

...and look who shows up all safe and sound...with smeared lipstick! |

George and Mary came by to help out! |

...and my favorite photo of the show... |

...and for those that were there... |

.... we really should have been downstairs... |
...where the other customized cars were.... |
