Wave Organ

The stone used in the construction of this work was once part of Laurel Hill Cemetery in Laurel Heights. The jetty to the organ was partially built with rubble from the cemetery, which was demolished in the 1950's

"Sound is created by the movement of waves in and out of a series of pipes extending into the water. The full range of sound is best heard by holding your ear close to the listening pipes and ports. The organ is most active acoustically during high tides and becomes more subtle as the water level drops."
