We went to "Suan Sampran" or the Rose Garden (http://www.rosegardenriverside.com) which is about 40 minutes from our house. All three kids were there and, in addition, we got Kwang's family (Kwang, Jum, and Nut) to come with us.

We were excited to see traditional Thai activities which are getting harder for kids to see. The activities were from 10:00 to noon. Our family got to the park first and went straight to see the activities. The first activity was threshing rice manually. Both Titus and Tatia got their hands on this and they discovered why human invented machines to this work. There were rice plots for kids to see where their rice came from also.

The next activity was sword fighting (with wooden swords.) Ko was excited too and got on to the field and start fighting (slowly) with Titus. Since Ko coughed at the time, he wore a face mask, so Titus facing Ko looked kind of like Luke vs. Darth Vader.

Next we went to make clay pottery using spinning platform (which is a flywheel rotated with feet.) The person at the station was very patient in teaching the kids to make their pottery. The kids were extremely excited when their pots were separated from the platform using a thread. The look on their faces alone was worth the trip.

We then went to another station making clay animals, but mostly the kids were watching other older people making the animals. They got two clay cows from the older people.

Tatia wandered off to play Thai wooden percussion ("Ra-nad".) The still pictures look like Tatia was a pro at that.

Then we went to see how to make silk apparel. We got to see the silkworms, their cocoons, their cocoons in boiling water. The silk lady spun the silk thread into rolls. Titus helped with spinning the thread, but he got tired after a few minutes.

Next we went to make a Thai dessert called Ka-nom-Gluay. Tatia put the mix in banana leaves and packed them, then roasted them over a grill. While waiting for the dessert to cook, she went to extract coconut meat from the seed manually. After a few moments, Aor got her off because Tatia would more likely knock her head before getting the coconut meat.

Titus saw the nearby booth and went there to paint an umbrella. He was adamant that he should paint his own umbrella while Tatia painted her own. After about 15 minutes the two umbrellas were done. The umbrella lady said they should wait 30 minutes for the paint to dry, then had a second look (at how thick the paint was) and told them that in their case, they should wait an hour.

Tatia was very proud of her umbrella so she walked everywhere with it for the rest of the day. The next day, she brought her umbrella to school too, looking quite lady-like. Kwang's family painted one umbrella, so the umbrella looks very professional.

For lunch, we went to the Eng-Cheng restaurant (named after the Siamese Twins--Siam = the old name of Thailand.) The restaurant was next to the river so the view was fantastic. We didn't take many pictures because we were busy with food and the kids.

After lunch, we had icicles (3 baht each), roasted squids, watched a small floating market, fed the fish. Aor really like the way they provided big spoons for the fish feed to keep the hands clean.

In the afternoon, we had one more activity. The kids got to make some soap. This might not be suitable to young children since it involves hot plates and relatively complicate ingredients. However, the kids really enjoyed choosing their molds. In the end, each kid got two soap bars to bring home.

All in all, we got to do a bunch of interesting activities. The kids were not too tired. The place is quite close to Bangkok. Titus' favorite activity was clay pottery. Tatia's was umbrella painting.

This was a very satisfying trip. Highly recommended.

Some observations:

- The staff was very friendly. Very patient with the kids.

- Should start early, since there were a lot of activities to choose from.

- Tanya (21 months old) is too young for the activity.

- There were comfortable beach chairs for tired adults to lie down. (Ko testified that they were comfortable.)

- There was an international buffet included in the price, but we decided against it because with 4 kids, it would be difficult for the adults to keep up.

- Restrooms were very clean. The ones in Eng-Chan restaurant was air-conditioned!

) เด็กทั้งสามคนไปกันพร้อมหน้า แถมยังชวนครอบครัวอาเก๊า อาจุ๋มและพี่ลูกนัทไปด้วย กิจกรรมเป้าหมายของเรา คือ

"ทำให้รู้..ดูให้เป็น ที่หมู่บ้านไทย" ในช่วงเวลา 10.00-12.00 น

เราไปถึงหมู่บ้านไทยตอนเค้าเปิดประตูกันเลย เริ่มต้นด้วยมุมโม่ข้าว ธีธัชกับธีญาลองเข้าไปโม่ข้าวกันด้วย บ่นกันว่าหนัก จากนั้นก็ได้ลองฝัดข้าวเปลือกด้วยกระจาดเพื่อให้เปลือกข้าวปลิวแยกออกจากเม็ดข้าว เด็กๆยังได้เห็นต้นอ่อนของข้าวเปลือกที่เตรียมไว้ใช้ในการหว่านข้าวด้วย

แล้วธีธัชก็ชวนไปฝึกฟันดาบกัน มีพี่ๆกำลังฟันดาบกันโช้งเช้ง ธีธัชกับธัชธีญาเข้าไปกันอย่างกล้าๆกลัวๆ ดีนะที่ใช้ดาบไม้ ถ้าเป็นไลท์เซเบอร์ขาคงขาดกันไปแล้ว ไม้มันหนาและหนักเหมือนกัน ตอนที่เด็กๆถือก็คอยแต่จะห้อยลงพื้น พี่ๆเค้าเลยต้องมาช่วยจับ พ่อโก้เห็นเข้าก็คันไม้คันมือ ลงไปจับดาบสอนลูกฟัน แต่พอดีพ่อโก้เป็นหวัดก็เลยต้องใส่ผ้าปิดปาก ดูๆไปแล้วเหมือน Darth Vader สู้กับ Luke เหมือนกัน

จากนั้นเราก็ไปปั้นดินกัน เริ่มต้นด้วยการปั้นดินแบบแป้นหมุน พี่ที่ดูแลกิจกรรมนี้ใจเย็นมาก ค่อยๆบอกเด็กทีละขั้นตอน สำหรับเด็กเล็กอย่างธีธัชกับธีญา พี่เค้าจะช่วยจับนิ้วของหนู กดกับเนือดิน เจ้าก้อนดินก็ค่อยแปลงร่างมาเป็นถ้วยเล็กๆ ส่วนตื่นเต้นที่สุดก็คือ

ตอนสุดท้ายที่ต้องเอาด้ายเล็กๆมาตัดด้านล่างให้ถ้วยหลุดออกจากดินก้อนใหญ่ พี่เค้าบอกให้หนูทำมือกอบเข้าหากัน และประคองถ้วยเบาๆในขณะที่แป้นก็ยังหมุนอยู่ พอพี่เค้าตัดปุ๊บ ถ้วยมันก็กระเด้งขึ้นมาอยู่ในสองมือเล้กๆของหนู โอ..หน้าเด็กๆตอนนั้นนะ เหมือนกับได้ถือของวิเศษอยู่ในมือ ตาโตเป็นประกายเชียวล่ะ แค่นี้ก็คุ้มค่าทริปนี้แล้วล่ะ

แต่เพื่อให้อิ่มเอมไปกว่านี้ เราไปนั่งปั้นดินกับพี่โตอีกวงหนึ่งด้วย มัวแต่ดูพี่ๆปั้น เด็กๆเลยไม่ได้ผลงานอะไรมา มีแต่วัว 2 ตัวที่พี่ๆเค้าปั้นให้ ระหว่างนั้นธีญาก็ไปลองเล่นระนาดกับคุณลุงด้วย เคาะโป๊งๆอย่างกับตีกลอง เบาๆลูกเอ๋ย..เดี๋ยวไม้ของลุงหัก แต่พอถ่ายรูปออกมา ท่าทางเธอเหมือนจะเป็นมืออาชีพเลยล่ะ

แล้วเราก็ไปทำขนมกล้วยกัน ส่วนผสมทั้งหมดถูกวางเรียงไว้ข้างหน้าอย่างสวยงาม พวกเราดูพี่เค้าคลุกส่วนผสมเข้าด้วยกัน แล้วธีญาได้ช่วยตักส่วนผสมใส่ในใบตอง ช่วยกลัดไม้กลัด แล้วก็เอาไปปิ้ง ระหว่างที่รอให้สุก ธีญาได้ลองขูดมะพร้าว ด้วยกระต่ายขูดมะพร้าว ท่าทางไม่เซ็กซี่อย่างมะหมี่ เก๊กท่าถ่ายรูปแป๊บเดียว

 แม่ก็ต้องขอร้องให้เลิกเหอะ เพราะหวาดเสียวว่าหน้าจะคมำไปขูดแทนมะพร้าว

จากนั้นเราก็ได้ดูขั้นตอนการทำผ้าไหมตั้งแต่เริ่มต้น เห็นกระจาดเลี้ยงหนอนไหม มีรังไหมสีเหลืองนวลเต็มกระจาด มีคุณยายเอารังไหมมาต้มแล้วค่อยๆสาวไหมออกมาเป็นเส้น เด็กๆได้ช่วยหมุนเครื่องเพื่อเรียงเส้นไหมให้เป็นมัดๆ ขนาดทำแป๊บเดียวธีธัชยังบ่นว่าเมื่อย แหม..คุณยายนั่งทำได้เป็นชั่วโมงเชียวนาลูกเอ๋ย

แล้วธีธัชก็ร้องขอระบายสีร่ม โดยยืนยันว่าจะไม่ระบายสีร่มอันเดียวกับน้อง โถ..ไม่มั่นใจในฝีมือของน้องเลยหรือ นั่งทำกันอยู่ 15 นาทีก็ได้ร่มลวดลายดอกไม้มากันคนละอัน เจ้าหน้าที่เค้าบอกว่าอย่าเพิ่งหุบร่มนะคะ ต้องรอครึ่งชัวโมงให้สีแห้งก่อน

แล้วก็เหลือบมาดูผลงานของเจ้าลิงทั้งสอง ก็บอกใหม่ว่า ของน้องคงต้องรอซักชั่วโมงน่าจะดีกว่าค่ะ ฮ่า ฮ่า..ก็ทั้งคู่คงนึกว่าเล่นสีน้ำอยู่ที่บ้าน จุ่มสีกันเป็นว่าเล่น สีก็เลยหนาเตอะ แห้งยากซักหน่อย

แล้วจากนั้นธีญาก็เลยกางร่มเดินตลอดวัน เธอภาคภูมิใจมาก ขนาดว่าวันรุ่งขึ้นก็ยังเอาร่มไปโรงเรียนด้วย กางร่มเดินเข้าประตูโรงเรียน คุณนายซะไม่มีล่ะ ส่วนร่มของครอบครัวอาเก๊าน่ะเหรอ ร่มหนึ่งอันร่วมมือร่วมใจช่วยกันทำทั้งครอบครัว ออกมาเลยดูเป็นมืออาชีพมาก

แล้วก็เที่ยงพอดี เด้กๆหมดแรง แม่อ้อลิ้นห้อย เราก็ไปทานข้าวกันที่ร้านอาหารอินจัน ริมแม่น้ำท่าจีน โอ้โฮ..วิวสุดยอดมากค่ะ

ร้านอาหารเป็นกระจกเห็นวิวแม่น้ำทั้งสามด้าน ไม่ทันได้ถ่ายรูปมามากนักเพราะวุ่นอยู่กับเด็กๆ สั่งอะไรมาก็เผ็ดไปหมด เด็กๆทานไม่ค่อยได้ เลยต้องเจอกับเมนูมาตรฐานเด็ก คือ ไข่เจียว

พอทานข้าวเสร็จก็เดินเล่น กินไอติมหลอดแท่งละ 3 บาทเอง ได้ลองกินปลาหมึกบด ได้เดินดูตลาดน้ำเล็กๆ ดูคุณยายสานตะกร้า ได้ให้อาหารปลา เค้าเอาอาหารปลาใส่กระติ๊บและมีทัพพีเตรียมไว้ให้ด้วย อ้อชอบมากเพราะมือไม่เ่ลอะเทอะดี กระติ๊บละแค่ 15 บาท หยิบไปได้เลยแล้วค่อยเอาตังค์หยอดกล่องเอาไว้เพราะไม่มีเจ้าหน้าที่คอยเก็บเงิน

กิจกรรมช่วงบ่าย เราเลือกทำสบู่ มี ธีธัช ธัชธีญา และลูกนัท กิจกรรมนี้ไม่ค่อยเหมาะกับเด็กเล็กนัก เพราะมีเตาร้อนๆที่ต้องใช้ต้มส่วนผสม เด็กๆงงๆกับคำอธิบายขั้นตอนของพี่ๆ เพราะไม่รู้จักส่วนผสมซักอย่าง แต่พอถึงตอนเลือกแม่พิมพ์ โอ..เด็กๆเลือกกันอย่างเมามัน เลือกกันไม่เสร็จซะที ดูเหมือนว่าจะใช้เวลาเลือกนานกว่าเวลาทำสบู่ซะอีก หลังจากเติมส่วนผสมจนครบ คนๆ คนๆ ใส่แม่พิมพ์ แล้วก็ได้สบู่กลับบ้านกันคนละ 2 ก้อน

รวมๆแล้วกิจกรรมในวันนี้ ช่วงเช้า 2 ชั่วโมงที่หมู่บ้านไทย และอีกชั่วโมงในช่วงบ่ายที่ได้้เดินเล่นและทำสบู่ ถือว่าเป็นอีกวันที่เด็กๆได้ทำกิจกรรมที่หลากหลายและไม่เหนื่อยมากนัก แถมยังไม่ไกลจากกรุงเทพอีก เด็กๆประทับใจกันมาก โหวตกันแล้วธีธัชชอบปั้นดินด้วยแป้นหมุน และธีญาชอบร่ม เป็นอีกทริปหนึ่งที่แนะนำให้ไปค่ะ

- เจ้าหน้าที่มี Service Mind มากๆ ยิ้มแย้มแจ่มใส ชวนเด็กๆทำกิจกรรม พูดจาเพราะ เป็นกันเอง ประทับใจมากค่ะ

- ต้องไปให้เร็วเพราะกิจกรรมสำหรับเด็กเยอะ

- เด็กเล็กอย่างธัญญาไม่ค่อยได้ร่วมกิจกรรมมากนัก แต่เธอก็ตื่นเต้นที่ได้เห็นพี่ทำกิจกรรม

- ถ้าคุณพ่อทั้งหลายเหนื่อย มีที่สำหรับพักผ่อนสำหรับมัคคุเทศน์เข้าไปนอนพักได้ค่ะ พ่อโก้ไปลองมาแล้วบอกว่าหลับสบายดีครับ

- จริงๆแล้วเค้ามีบุปเฟ่ต์นานาชาติตอนเที่ยงด้วย แต่มีเด็กๆ 4

คนกับผู้ใหญ่ที่หมดแรงแล้ว บุปเฟ่ต์จึงไม่ใช่ตัวเลือกของเรา

- ห้องน้ำสะอาดค่ะ (ห้องน้ำที่ห้องอาหารอินจันติดแอร์ด้วยล่ะ)
