I hadn't been to the Mishawaka Inn in years, so when my friend asked if I was interested in seeing The Indigo Girls in concert there, I didn't hesitate to say "yes!"
The venue is a gem, nestled in the Poudre Canyon. A laid-back place where you can grab a burger, salad, fries or other casual refreshments, while drinking in the scenery and appreciating a beautiful summer day (with an occasional brief -- and not-so-brief -- shower to remind you that you're alive).
We had a great time. At least until it was time to go home. With no real parking available for an event like this, we all had to take buses down to an open area near the mouth of the canyon. And there weren't enough buses waiting when it was over to take everyone at once. Since we were near the stage, we were farther from the exit, and didn't make the first set of buses. We waited almost an hour for the next ones, in the pouring rain (good thing we had umbrellas). Thankfully, my house was only about a 10 minute drive from where the buses dropped us off. My friend headed north to Cheyenne, about 45 minutes away. |
