If it's Sunday, it must be the Eastern Market.

The end of the line.

This is our stop.  About a mile and a half away from our house.

We were on our way to the Eastern Market, but the trains were running very, very slow.  Only one track was open, so we were able to entertain ourselves on the platform for quite a while.

Interesting things can happen on the metro.

Ladies, please, please, please...listen to my advice.  If your skirt is above your knees, please, please, please do NOT sit with your legs apart whatsoever.  Really, nobody needs to be seeing that.

That said, while leaving the metro, some  lady (or so my husband says...I thought it was a man) started cursing and yelling at me.  Why?  I don't know.  I was trying to ignore her.  Dean says it was because of my camera.  Ok...I hadn't even taken a picture or anything.  I'm in DC.  People in DC have cameras.  I'm confused, but I don't think she was all there mentally, so I'll cut her some slack.

Moving on...

The Flea Market.  I LOVE the Flea Market.  They've got all sorts of really cool odds and ends here.  Unfortunately, we went on a day that was hot as hell.  The boy does not appreciate browsing through the market like I do.  His unhappiness manifests itself in a whine.  A drawn-out, annoying whine.

So, we went to grab something to eat.

The Farmer's Market here is amazing as well.  Next time we're going to bring an insulated bag.  There was a stand selling some amazing salsa and hummus.  Yum!  We did manage to pick up some produce.  Strawberries, btw, do not travel well unless you are going directly home.  Just thought you would like to know.

Oh, and these flowers.  I want them.

I did manage to buy this really cool coaster at one of the stands.  It's a Fats Domino one in New Orleans.  I love it.  I'm going back later to buy some more.

The actual Eastern Market?  Good god, does it stink!  Literally.  The smell of fish just makes me want to gag.  Probably not the best place to go if you're vegetarian like me.

And then we went for a walk in the neighborhood on the other side of the Metro. Interesting people here, as well.  One man got us to sign a petition (it's the thing to do here) and then wanted us to give a donation.  When we told him we had no cash, he pointed at an ATM.  Haha, no.  That's not going to work either, sir.  We also met a man begging for 85 cents so that he could see his son.  Anyway, I'll let you browse.

I seem to have a fascination with doors.

We met the guy asking for 85 cents back in the metro.  He still didn't have his money.

Keegan wanted to go to the Natural History Museum, so we stopped on our way back.  As we emerged from the station, we noticed that the Scientologists had taken over.  People were walking as far away from that tent as they could.

And then we went home.  In a train with crappy air-conditioning.  And it was hot.

Thanks for all the lessons, Kris and the tour. I'm very familiar with the Whine which I've heard many times with my kids and now my grandkids. This is a fun ecclectic set.
