Collection: Dining Room

The dining room is not one of my favorite rooms.  It's drab.  It has no color to it whatsoever.  It needs paint, cat-proof flowers and plants...something.

The furniture is a collection of odds and ends.  The china cabinet and drawers once belonged to Dean's grandmother.  The table was bought from our neighbor.  The chair to the side belonged to my mother when she was a child.

My mom's old chair.

There are several pictures hanging on the walls.

Teacher pic with kids.

K-Mart Anais.

Preggers in Florida.

Best red-neck family picture ever!

Oh-oh, she's going to cry. (Anais)

Or scream.

Me at my grandpa's house trying on my mom's bra.

There are also a couple of old plates on the dresser.  I want to say that these come from Dean's family, but I could be wrong.

How about a look-see in those drawers?

I think that I've mentioned before that I was a pack-rat.  I have not only a junk drawer, but several junk drawers.

Handkerchief and girl scout stuff.

Pictures....and some crap.

LOTS of crap.

Note to self: send book to Jessica....

Stuff.

Glow-in-the-dark Jesus. :)

My great-grandparents' clock.

And on to the china cabinet...

Here we have all sorts of stuff.  Some of it I bought.  Most of it I didn't.  Some commemorate events.  Others were gifts.  I found several family heirlooms while taking pictures...it's amazing how much more stuff that you'll find INSIDE of the stuff that you can see!

My boots from when I was little.

Pooh's in a cup! (Anais)

Bunnykins...

and more Bunnykins...

Three generations of Bunnykins.

Swedish cups

I like cups with cartoons.

From my wedding.

If you want to see knick-knacks, this is the place to look.  We've got wedding stuff, graduation stuff, other stuff and more!

Good god! WTH?

I made this at my great-grandparents' house when I was little.

I rock.

Don't forget the stuff that was inside other stuff.

You have to have photographs.

Some items that belonged to Dean's grandfather or were given to his grandmother after he was killed in Korea.

And my grandmother's china.

One final thing.

It's in the drawer above the empty space.

Why is it empty?

Because somehow the drawer ended up with Dean's sister.

She's in Texas.

We're not.

This is even better (ok, maybe not) than the glow-in-the-dark Jesus.

It's creepy.

I have no idea where it came from.

It's in the shape of an egg.

...and it's looking at you.

Aaaaaahhhhh! Everybody run!!!!!!!

That thing could give you nightmares.

Reminds me of Chuckie.

*shiver*

I love this tabblo. I had the Peter Rabbit series for my daughter when she was an infant. and the junk drawer is priceless. you have captured a slice of life that is so real. endearing yet embarrasing (to ourselves, but no one else), yet sweet. i have the same Sea World plastic bag with my pearl in it!! circa 1979

It's the stuff of our lives. We all have lots of stuff--some of it junk that we can't part with, some of it sentimental as it holds memories. but it's our stuff and it makes us happy.

so that's where our Chuckie ended up after he got the boot from the Bucs.
