Skateboards at the American Indian Museum

The boys and I had a nice lunch with dad in Crystal City.  Afterwards, I thought it would be nice to visit some museums on the mall before meeting Dean after he got off of work.  We took the Yellow Line to L'Enfant and walked a few blocks to get to the mall.  We rarely get to this end because we usually get off at Smithsonian and it's a bit of a hike.  Since we've only been in the American Indian Museum once (mainly to cool off), I thought it might be fun to actually see some of the exhibits.  First though, we enjoyed some of the scenery outside.

Inside, not only did we enjoy the exhibits and listening to stories, but we also discovered (ok...I discovered.  I had to use the restroom and it was on the way.) a very cool skateboard exhibit.  Yes, a skateboard exhibit.  Inside the American Indian Museum.  First....some history....

Ah, remember when skateboards were plastic?  I do.  Susan and I used to ride down her driveway (she was on a hill) sitting down on one of those above.  Good times.  We spent many hours going down, walking up, and going back down again.

And Tony Hawk!  I loved Tony Hawk.  He was in Gleaming the Cube and everything.  Total hottie.  Love the rails.

But then came then very cool boards from the Native Americans.  Very impressive!

The skateboard on the men's room sign....very cool.

Disappointed that they didn't have one on the girl's as well.

We all had a good time looking at all of the very cool boards.

Now, if only I could get my kids to actually GET ON theirs. (All three of my kids have skateboards.  They don't use them.  I'm disappointed.)

And...

some parting shots of Keegan.

He's a strange boy sometimes.
