Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) Latvia, Riga.

Residential Building at Alberta Iela (= street)13.  Architect, Mihail Eisenstein.

The overall imaginative atmosphere of the building's traditional composition is achieved through the choosen themes of the decor.

The roof construction depicts the the God of the Sun Apollo, protected by winged lions. The shaped bays of the facade rest on tragic masks, counterparts of the Greek theater masks. Over those, statues of the Goddess Huntress Artemis and the shepard God Pan.

The decor of the house also features Gothic and Eastern symbols characteristic to Art Nouveau.

Our Jugenstil Guide Olga, with her beautiful dress, decorated with an amber chain.
