In 2005, the idea of the creation of an aquarium emerged from a group of researchers from the Tierra del Fuego Sea Biology Center, interested in spreading knowledge about sea life in sub-antarctic ecosystems.
They collected native species from the Beagle channel, mainly those which, due to their commercial exploitation, are highly endangered.

The most difficult task was to get the place.
Paradoxically, it turned out to be a former seafood and spider crab processing plant.
At present, local anglers and diving teams provide specimens they catch during their daily activities. |

When we visited in 2005, there were already these awesome crabs (spider-like, human faces on shell, and giant variety), lobsters, starfishes, octopus, sharks and other alien creatures from the sea.
Ushuaia, unfortunately is the last city at the END OF THE WORLD and not very accessible.
But if you ever get there ......
