Eduardo.affonso said at 7:00 p.m. on Sep 3, 2009: MIKE & DOREEN: I was exactly 4 years and 7 months old when JFK was shot, but I do remember the shock, the whole family in front of the TV, the theories about who was behind the crime (I didn't know much about politics by then, but I was sure it was Lyndon Johnson, because he wanted to be the President...).
ANDRE: Not so perfect timing, but Ted Kennedy's death made me think of these photos, taken last May.
Danke, RAINER.

1963: Kennedy shot dead in Dallas The President of the United States has been assassinated by a gunman in Dallas, Texas. John F Kennedy was hit in the head and throat when three shots were fired at his open-topped car.
The presidential motorcade was travelling through the main business area of the city.
Texas Governor John Connally was also seriously injured when one of the unknown sniper's bullets hit him in the back.
The men were accompanied by their wives, who were both uninjured.
Vice-president Lyndon Johnson - who was following in a different car - has been sworn in as the new US leader.
The presidential party was driving from Dallas airport to the city centre when witnesses said shots were fired from the window of a building overlooking the road.
The president collapsed into Jackie Kennedy's arms, who was heard to cry "Oh no". Seconds later Governor Connally was also hit.
Dallas Times Herald photographer Bob Jackson was in the motorcade close behind the Democrat leader's car and heard the shots as it entered Dealey Plaza.
"As I looked up I saw a rifle being pulled back from a window - it might have been resting on the windowsill - I didn't see a man," he said.
Mr Kennedy's limousine was driven at speed to Parklands Hospital immediately after the shooting.
This is terrible - I cannot find words
Senator Mike Mansfield
The president was alive when he was admitted, but died at 1400 local time (1900 GMT) - 35 minutes after being shot.
Police and Secret Service agents stormed the School Book Depository building moments after the shots were fired and recovered a rifle with a telescopic sight, said to be the assassination weapon.
The mood of shock in the US was echoed by Senator Mike Mansfield in an emergency forum of the senate.
"This is terrible - I cannot find words," he said.
Robya said at 9:51 p.m. on Sep 3, 2009: Hola Eduardo, When I was a little girl, about 4 or 5, we lived around the block from the City Building. In California, One day, There were a lot of people in a crowd. I took my brothers hand and crossed the busy street, Even though my mother would have gotten upset if she thought I was crossing the busy street. But I did anyway. And people were carrying signs and posters. And one man was talking to them. I asked one adult who was the man. The Adult said it was John Kennedy. Aparently, That was when he was campaining for Presidency. I never realized it as a Young person till I was older, But I remembered the day and the Name, My mother I think came to get us across the street!~~And I got in trouble for crossing the street. But I was glad to have done it for the memory. ~~Robbi

Eduardo.affonso said at 10:44 p.m. on Sep 3, 2009: FABIO: JFK's death had, for those of that generation, a similiar impact of Setpember 11th to ours. We all know what we were doing when we heard of the attack to the twin towers, don't we? Things like these show us History is not in the past, it is not written nor finished - it happens everyday, affects all of us, and we are part of it.
ROBBI: What a great story! So you met JFK before he became a legend... You described the scene so well I can almost see you looking up to try to see his face, and try to understand what he was saying.
TEO: I don't really believe in reincarnation, but the list of similarities of JFK and Lincoln is amazing. Both had brothers named Robert & Edward! Both were elected to the Congress in '56 and President in '60... Both were 2nd child in the family and were named after their grandparents... Both had 4 children, 2 of whom died before becoming a teen... Well, the list is loooong - not to mention the photos (hope there is no photoshop involved...). Thanks for the link, I have really enjoyed reading this article!
ROBERT: History is not to be forgotten... facts like this assassination are worth remembering, for they carry a great lesson within them.

Eduardo.affonso said at 8:33 a.m. on Sep 4, 2009: LILIANA: Eu tampouco conhecia o munumento, e o encontro por acaso, enquando zanzava por Dallas. Mas (morbidamente?) fiz questão de ir aos locais que já conhecia dos filmes, passar por aquele cenário já visto e revisto tantas vezes, e a sensação que tive foi de vazio, de que nada havia acontecido ali. Muito estranho.
CHARLES: Thank you! Trying new designs is always a challenge...
LINDA & DEBBIE: In Brazil older people still remember clearly when our President Vargas commited suicide. This fact is "history" for me, but it had a great impact on people's mind. A President is not just a public person, he is also a symbol - and his assassination or suicide is like the country has been shot itself.

Liliana said at 11:35 a.m. on Sep 4, 2009: Entiendo.
