Yes, it's true!

we must raise hell about injustice...

 

Leave the garden for a time

and fight for what is right

but NEVER give up your Heaven...or there is nothing left worth fighting for~

Swan Island Dahlia Farm

 

 

My search for glorious flowers brought me here~ 

 

I had visited this dahlia Farm several years ago and always wanted to return~

 

Today is the day! 

 

Even more beautiful than I had remembered

 

these will be perfect for my daughter's  early October wedding!

These are known as "dinner plate dahlias"...

giant exquisite ruffled dream blossoms~~

My personal favorite:  These honeycombed pom pom beauties!

Rhonda, the dahlia is a flower found in many parts of Brazil. Never photographed a dahlia, but looking at your photos so beautiful, I was inspired. And you are a beautiful person too. Congratulations.

Thank you so much everyone~ I cannot do these flowers justice...they are just too dazzling and wonderful all together in a field with a little breeze blowing...well, IT IS HEAVEN and I thanked the family who grows them and asked them to keep it safe forever. They told me that farm had been in the family for 80 years now and that they would surely protect it and treasure it~ THey are the largest dahlia grower in America and it is only a few miles away from me! I wish I could take you all out to breakfast and then we would spend all afternoon visiting here... HUGS, Rhonda

Thank you Edu~The dahlias help us celebrate and also they comfort us as we begin to say goodbye to our beautiful summer...Here in the Pacific Northwest we must dig them up for the winter and then plant them again in the early spring...if they freeze - they are lost and so these need special tender loving care~* Thank you everyone! My son Joel is my photographer...and a very indulgent one he is too :^) These dahlias will be bloomin lovely up until late October Annelies~ then it's to bed for the winter...

Wait a minute! Not to bed...we dig them up and bring them all inside...what am I thinking? What you see here is an 80 yr old dahlia farm...they know their flowers well~ :^)
