Theatro Municipal - the Restoration

The Theatro Municipal (City Theater)

is an opera house located in downtown

Rio de Janeiro, which was inaugurated in July 1909.

It is now under restoration, and I visited it today. I had been there many times before (for operas, ballets, concerts) but it was like visiting a different building.

Maria Callas, Nijinsky, Enrico Caruso,

Arturo Toscanini, Igor Stravinsky, Arthur Rubinstein, Claudio Arrau and the best Brazilian artists

performed here.

for Rita, who suggested & booked this visit, and for Angela, who joined me.

Another BRILLIANT tabblo, Eduardo! It may not have the emotion of your last tabblo but you have successfully captured the true magnificence of this wonderful building. I like to see the way you have captured the people at work, the wide angle views, the stained glass, the tile work, the fine details, the natural colours, the points of view and so on. Wonderful top photo.... definitely another favourite ... great job!

NOREEN: Thank you, my friend! I agree that this set is totally different from the previous tabblo, but I think this magnificence (thanks for the word!) can provoke some kind of emotion, too. It is a very rich building, so there are plenty of details, the decoration is astonishing. I am flattered to be included again amont your favorites...

Arigato, CHARLES!

KARSTEN: This one hundred years old building will be soon shining and new. There are 320 people working on its restoration, you should have applied earlier... ;-P

Buen paseo, Eduardo, gracias.
