A Day with Dahlias ~* FINALE

In my garden there is a large place for sentiment.

My garden of flowers

is also my garden of thoughts and dreams.  The thoughts grow as freely

as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful.

-   Abram L. Urban

This is Milo - the one in charge at Swan Island Dahlias and he is one busy doggy...tending to the flowers

He sees to it that all flower bouquets are stacked properly...

A trailer full of flowers~  Load em up!

Training employees to drive the various vehicles used to transport the flowers...

Keeping an eye on all visitors, other doggies and especially rowdy photographers...

I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.

~Claude Monet

~~~Surrounded with so much beauty one can become easily entranced...
slipping into a dream like state~~~
Magic
So, yes, we'll be using dahlias in Cheryl's wedding flowers...big bunches of them~  along with the passionate roses. (My first love always)  and all of the other flowers~ The garden is full of autumn bloomers!
I admire these flowers of wonder~ with their spirit and boldness...their vibrancy and joy at being...dahlias!
Standing before a field of dahlias you get the feelings of being in a concert of colors...a huge sea of individuality~
~stars, lilies, honeycombed pom poms...spiders, suns, Tango and flamenco dancers...as unique and exquisite as the people of this world...that's us.
It's been a lovely summer and here comes a fantastic autumn~
I hope and pray that yours is filled with love and hope~~~
Hugs from me,
Rhonda, Welshchick~
you should visit the Monet Gardens near Paris, you'd love it (there's even a bed-and-breakfast there, very quaint, very romantic) gorgeous big photos. I can almost smell them!
I didn't know there were so many variations of dhalias, including a "maniac" (according to its appearence, it does deserve the name it was given...). Thanks for the tour, for the photos, quotes and smiles!
Welshchick said at 2:44 p.m. on Sep 15, 2009:
Oh la la indeed! ;^) Thank you Doreen~ this is the place for dahlias...I was reading about it and they are the largest grower in the US. So this is the place and September is the month! Hi Tianna, thank you and come with me for a trip! Thank you Patti~ the dahlias will be decorating the outdoor wedding in vases and baskets but her bouquet will be roses - orange and purple are the colors she loves~ The "Maniac" dahlia was exquisite and loaded with personality! THank you Fabio- they are wonderful flowers and I am grateful to be with them :^). Thanks Edu- the "maniac" had the unique quirk or producing a bright red blossom every so often...so the flowers were orange but then you have guest appearances of red blooms popping up~ so unique and special! Thank you so much Mirella~ you' re so encouraging! Thank you Danitsja~ some of them are HUGE and those are called "dinner plate" dahlias...they seem to have strong stocks and stand as upright as the smller ones... I personally adore the little "onion like" baby ones...that is just one of the features of dahlias that makes them so treasured. THANK YOU ALL~
Oh, these are beautiful. Enjoyed seeing some of their names...Foxy Lady, Grandma's Lemon Pie, and Maniac...I'm sure there were some other interesting names. I was sure Foxy Lady was referring to you. Good thing Milo is there to keep an eye on rowdy photographers!!
