Heritage Day - A day spent with friends...

Angie & her son Brad...

Angie & Joe in front of a replica of the 1st house in Henderson.......... 30 families lived here until their own homes were built.

2 cuties all dressed up for the day...

I forget what they were making... some sort of cracklings from pork lard, I think...

Brad poses with the pumpkins...

In the early days this was how they washed clothes...

The wash is hung up to dry on the porch...

Then someone invented the first washing machine & wringer... all run by hand.

Check it out...

It's a 2-holer...

They were baking bread in the summer kitchen... a small separate building...

and making fresh apple cider...

There were all sorts of demonstrations going on...

People were making fresh apple cider & bread...

The kids could make rope, make butter, wash clothes and play with old fashioned toys and games...

There were antique tractors, buggies and cars and lots of items that actually belonged to the original settlers.

Angie and Brad...

Romper Stompers of yesterday...

Nice set of a fine day out, Jodi. Those days will have been much harder, but better, with far more community spirit. I don't think I fancy the two-holer:)

Fun way to learn. Really great shots! Would have hated to be in one of those first 30 Families!

It's nice to see the history preserved and that today's generations can learn about the history of our country. Hey--walking on those cans looks like fun.
