Our First Jimmy Fund Walk

On Sunday, September 13th my three sons, Jason, Aidan and Gaelan and i took part in our first jimmy fund walk for cancer in boston.  equipped with a portable dvd player, books and toys for the little ones, we walked 13.1 miles in honor of our father/papa who had recently passed away in january of esophageal cancer. this walk was our little way to do something constructive with our grief and loss as well as raise money towards research.

These images are not the most professional looking shots as many of them were taken while actively walking but they give an overall feeling of our journey.

our starting point....babson college in Wellesley

the boys enjoy an "in-walk" movie!

some of the beautiful houses we pass by

The boys enjoy a break thanks to a nearby ice-cream truck.

Jason tells his girlfriend, Alicia, how much walking he is doing.....

Aidan reaches up to hold my hand

Seeing this sign reduced me to tears

Kind of hard to see but there were 2 hawks sitting atop the spire.

Gaelan decides to catch a few winks

We come into the Fenway Park area where the first game of a Red sox double-header is just letting out.  All of a sudden there was a mass convergence of jimmy fund walkers and red sox fans. Interesting chaos ensued as people tried to navigate around one another!

Guy on segway trying to sell tickets

We cross through our last gate......only a little more than a mile left to walk!

Ahhhhh....the finish line!

We add our signature to the wall

Congrats on ToD, and on the walk as well. Of course, having also lost my father to cancer, you wish it were under other circumstances. I live by Kenmore Square and saw the walkers all day Sunday, and when walking back from Brookline too.

Thanks everyone for all of your supportive and thoughtful comments! I am pretty new to this venue still and was completely taken aback with the ToD references. Just figured out what it meant! :)
