Cheetah

These are three young Cheetah males that all come from the same litter. We were driven for almost three hours over sand tracks through the Kwando Reserve in Northern Botswana  in order to spend time with these fantastic creatures.

What a privilege to have been able to see these cats in their natural environment. It was an emotional experience!

Looks like your 3 hour drive was worth it--these shots are great Ceila. We can count the spots on that last one.

Celia, I have been a great experience. I think, who loves animals, dreams of being near such an animal. Beautiful photos. Thank you.
Pkeener said at 9:53 a.m. on Sep 20, 2009:
amazing to see these animals in their habitat, so the natural camoflage is evident. So beautiful. you took some very nice photos, Celia, and I can't imagine how exciting and emotional it was!

Precious set of photos!

Thanks so much, Celia, for sharing another chapter of your African trip with us! Quite an experience, eh? The almost three-hour drive to find the cats is another proof of how scarce they are becoming.

"... the young males remain together for life" (Wikipedia.com). Isn't that beautiful?

Linda, Thank you. We were able to get very close to the cats, but only for a short while as our guide was very sensitive the natural environment and so much of the time we watched from a distance.
Neusinha, thank you, going on safari has been one of the best things in my life!
Pam, it was very emotional. I so wanted to see Cheetah and so when we actually arrived and saw them I was overwhelmed! They are so beautiful!
Fabio, you are so right, it is beautiful! Thank you so much for your interest and kind comments. I am glad you like the new avatar, I was taking a picture of a very rare creature, the Pangolin.

You were very lucky Celia, to see all these animals from such a nearness. I remember cheetahs to be very shy animals, we had a hard time to see even from a distance.
Chilla said at 4:35 a.m. on Oct 3, 2009:
Anke, We were able to get quite close to them to take a few pictures but then stayed back as the guides were anxious not to disturb them. They seemed very unconcerned by us.

If this is your line of work, and I had that chance to be in your shoes, I would never never quit. Each encounter I guess is a unique experience. Very fantastic Chilla !!! :)

Lolit, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I wish it were my line of work as I agree it would be difficult to quit! In fact I am just stopping work and this gives me a bit more time to have a few adventures!
