Kennin-ji

is one of the

 five great Zen temples

 of Kyoto.

 

It was founded in 1202,

 has 14 subtemples

and a fascinating

interior garden

 (see previous tabblo).

 

 

The painting

 of the twin dragons

commemorates the

 800-year anniversary

of Kennin-ji's founding.

 

It measures

11.4m by 15.7m

 (the size of 108 tatami mats)

and is drawn with

the finest quality ink

 on thick traditional

 Japanese paper.

No me podía imaginar esos dragones en el techo hasta ver la foto más abarcadora... Fascinante, irreal... ¡Qué combinación exótica de todo! Creo que a casi ningún "mortal" occidental(izado) le pasaría por la mente un cielorraso así con ese piso... ¡y esas paredes! Me hubiera tirado al suelo horas, perdida en esas historias legendarias de dragones de tinta... De otro mundo, realmente.

Ficaria horas olhando pra esse teto. lindo, lindo...Também gostei do outro tabblo, do templo e das citações budistas. Incompreensíveis para o meu entendimento quase tribal sobre esse assunto.

This is so interesting Eduardo, in your previous Tabblo you showed the wonderful Zen garden which was so quiet and peaceful and here in this interior it is noisy and almost scary! Great images of this remarkable artwork!

Excellent tabblo Enaldo, what a beautiful place with an awesome ceiling. My first thought was that it was a tattoo.
