It is so unfortunate that these smiling children are trapped in a life that may be filled with poverty, and where dreams do not usually come true.

Maybe they are much happier than us, who need reasons to be happy. It is not that happiness "because of this or that", it's a happiness "in spite of this or that". They are happy despite the sadness that surrounds them, despite violence, poverty, bad health conditions. Hope these smiles will still be in their faces in the future. Good one, Rita!

look into their eyes, maybe there is an answer...
as long they have dreams and hope,
get inspiration by their ( soccer-) heroes,
have a "guiding angel" on their site ( could be family, friend, NGO, teacher ... )
there is a good chance that they are happy and even dreams will come true ....
this is also the experience I made in Smokey Mountain / Manila ...

Lindo tabblo, Rita.

I'm sure they are.. if they have a good friend, a mother's love.. what saves children is their imagination and innocence. I hope they are happy. you caught some sweet smiles though.

A true enigma...what is happiness? A smile can show happiness in a moment, in a certain circumstance...but to know what really matters you would have to live the life they live. It's not easy to fix or even analize ...there are always parameters to compare to...anyway, the eyes and smile show us that at this moment they were detached from their surroundings and circumstances and ,just ,pure as a child can be , presented us with their moment of HAPPINESS. MAKES ME FEEL SAD BECAUSE THIS SUFFERING IS SPREAD ALL OVER THE WORLD AND AS WE APPROACH 7 BILLION SOULS..NOTHING REALLY IMPORTANT IS BEING MADE TO CHANGE THE BIG PICTURE. I praise the efforts that people like Rita, ACOMPLISH for these people and their communities but its its still a disease that has no cure for now.Tks RITA.

They poor, but they still children. And their happiness in hope. Remarkable portraits.

thanks everybody for your comments and sorry to take so long to answer. I think some of them are happy. In fact, children like them live their lives inside the community, their friends, school, family are there.Their world is there. I think people can be happy in anywere,in any place, despite their poverty or wealth.

I hope they are... But it is a philosophical question. I am not able to answer, if I don´t want to fall in "clishés".

Lindas fotos.
