Isn't this the perfect place for the Olympic Games?

 

 

The host city for the Olympic Games 2016 will be chosen today, in Copenhagen, from four candidate cities: Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.

 

Guess which one is my favorite?

 

It can be the opportunity for Rio's rebirth, after decades of violence and political incompetence.

 

Rio deserves it.

 

The celebration

 

I was stuck in a traffic jam when Rio was announced as the winner. It took me a long time to get to Copacabana, but I could see a little bit of the celebration.

Nice set. Rio would be a beautiful venue for the 2016 games, Eduardo. And I know you'd get some terrific photos. A rebirth and fresh start with the revenue generated would give the city a chance to help the needy.

¡Buena publicidad, carioca por adopción! Muy dulce la última foto, de una serenidad y simplicidad minimalistas .) . Sinceramente no sé si ser sede de los juegos podrá cambiar la violencia e incompetencia políticas... lo dudo. Pero sí sé que es una buena fuente de divisas, es una vidriera y una oportunidad de que la ciudad mejore urbanísticamente . Ya algo está ganado desde hace dos años, creo, cuando fue sede e los Juegos Panamericanos, vi cosas interesantes, ya cuentan con una base de infraestructura. ¡Mi voto va para Río! Justo ayer leí sobre esto en el diario, esperaba un Tabblo sobre el tema, je, je.

It would be the first South American city to host an Olympic should it win. Let's hope it is not on the backs of the poor who continue to suffer. Yes, it is truly a beautiful city..

Nice to read your comments here , DOREEN, MIKE & JEAN! The Olympic Games don't make miracles, but hosting them would be great for Rio's self steem... I hope I will be soon posting some photos of the celebration. Cross your fingers...

LILIANA & NEUSINHA: O Rio sediou o Pan (sem problemas), vai sediar a Copa em 2014 e teria tudo para fazer bem as Olimpíadas. A cidade já está se transformando (breve teremos nossa versão de Puerto Madero, com a revitalização da zona portuária) e acho que os jogos seriam uma alavanca e tanto. Daqui a pouco saberemos.

Creo que por una cuestión de estadísticas y sentido común DEBE ser Río: Tokio: ya hace poco fue su "vecina" Bijing, Madrid: ídem Sevilla, del mismo país, no sería muy correcto, ¿Chicago...?: ahí está la gran competencia: ambas están en Amércia pero hubo uegos en Atlanta hace unos diez años... Ergo: ¡queda Río!

LILIANA: A lógica nem sempre prevalece onde o que decide é a política... Mas tomara que desta vez funcione. O resultado sai às 14:00 (hora de Brasília). Estou seriamente pensando em ir a Copacabana, acompanhar o resultado de lá. Pode render boas fotos, seja de alegria seja de decepção.

RITA: Sua chefe te "convoca" pra ir a uma festa em Copa e vc prefere ir a Friburgo? Vá entender.

CELIA & ROBBI: The slogan for Rio 2016 is "Everybody loves Rio", and it seems to be truth (particularly on Tabblo - except for Charles, who prefers Tokyo, and maybe Woody, who lives in Chicago).

ANNELIES: I suggest you to sing "Corcovado", instead.

Sorry for my delay in posting the celebration pics. The traffic was terrible when I came back home (fortunatelly 40% of the investiments for the games will be used to provide a real public transportation system).

Fui a Friburgo à trabalho Edu, representando a chefe, que foi pra festa em Copa...coisas do ofício, fazer o que? É claro que preferia estar na muvuca com a galera da Secretaria. Hoje de manhã lamentei não poder ir e fazer essas fotos maravilhosas que vc fez por mim rsrsrs.
Também espero que a grana que virá pra minha amada cidade não seja utilizada para outros fins

LILIANA: A Cidade Maravilhosa sempre foi o Rio, não a Bahia de São Salvador. Não reconheci nenhuma voz naquele vídeo (acho que são sempre anônimos os cantores, pessoas comuns, nem sempre muito afinados inclusive). Vi o vídeo ontem à noite, por isso não o tinha incluído antes. Quanto ao Javier, tomara que venha mesmo. Nunca me imaginei torcendo por um argentino em Olimpíadas, mas ele é praticamente um parente...

Não há dúvidas: o Rio é mesmo uma cidade maravilhosa!!! Paixão pura...Que os jogos oímpicos tragam muitos benefícios e que este sejam duradouros.
