Mt. Naejang Temple

                                Obelisks

 

The trail to reach the temples contains many medium sized obelisks ranging from twenty to thirty-feet to large obelisks peaking at sixty-feet in length. The medium sized obelisks contain old legends told from generation to generation while the large obelisks tell the history of the temples and its past inhabitants. Going through the trails, the obelisks and in mint condition and no trash is to be seen.

                             Temple Grounds Entrance

 

The entrance to the temple grounds has a large and very colorful overhang that welcomes incoming travelers that made it through the hike. Two cars side by side can easily pass through the overhang if it was permitted. Its length is close to fifty-feet which can be seen from the farthest possible distance from the many inclined terrain which is a quarter mile.

 

                             The Bell Tower

 

A large thirty foot bell is located in the corner of the temple grounds, the enclave to the monk's holy grounds and the temples themselves. The bell is utilized during the dawn, noon, and dusk for the daily prayers. It's resonance fills the grounds until it's lingering melody is replaced by the monk's prayers to expel evil Karma. The bell initiates this daily routine and has been for over 1,000 years.

                               Temples

 

The temple grounds has many buildings, varying in sizes in accordance with the size of the Buddha statue(s) it contains. This certain building contains two forty-foot Buddha statues, but everyone is prohibited from entering or taking pictures from the interiors of the building. When the bell is rang, the monks are inside this temple praying hours at a time. This is the most sacred building of Mount Naejang.

                        Golden Buddha Statues

 

The smaller ten-foot golden Buddha statues are for public prayers. This certain Buddha is holding different tools the monks use for prayers and also holy items that represents passed monks that have achieved self-actualization and self-realization, in other words enlightenment. Above the Buddha are documents that have certain prayers on them. Many visitors come by these smaller holy statues to pray for hours and hours to repent for actions and expel evil Karma.

                   Golden Buddha Statues of Purity

 

These statues are medium sized which are close to twenty-five feet in length. These statues symbolize certain positions which stands for peace to self-actualization. These statues are for prayers for those trying to achieve self-actualization. These are also for public use. This temple isn't as populated compared to the smaller buildings used for praying and repenting.
