~ Deserted ~

Not really deserted.  But a time of transition in a coastal town, when the holiday season is over and almost all the tourists have left.

The fishermen and seagulls remain, in more tranquil surroundings.

"Maybe you recognize me!  That's me standing on the wall between those two guys.  I'm Steven Seagull, a crazy mixed-up bird: A zen-like environmentalist....with a vicious streak.

If these two bozos don't give me a handout soon, I'll probably lose the plot and beat the $#*! out of them."

I like those coastal towns in Great Britain, I can smell the fish&chips in the crisp air.. of course the empty chairs photo would've made it all on its own, a time to "regroup", debunk the xfiles... ;)
Lageho said at 8:28 a.m. on Oct 12, 2009:
Just great, Mike. I like the desolation in this pictures. Photo number eight is my favorite.

Great shots Mike. The pictures really tell a story. Congratulations on TOD!!!
Lifequest22 said at 9:50 a.m. on Oct 12, 2009:
Wasaaaaabiiiiii, Fox......TOD.....Most excellent array of random images of the closed down for the season coastal town....Something lonely and melancholy when these places become deserted. and you did a great job of capturing those feelings.

I take it that those boats are experiencing a low tide period. Mike, that bird perching on the chain is excellent. Is it a starling?
Chilla said at 9:51 a.m. on Oct 12, 2009:
Great shots Mike, the seagulls are wonderful! Super Tabblo and congratulations on TOD!

Nobody home...Well, almost. Steven is. LOL. Apart from Steven&Co that bird-on-a-chain image is awesome.
Wildthing said at 10:31 a.m. on Oct 12, 2009:
Firstly: Thank you ERIC at Mission Control for seeing something you find makes this set worthy of TOD.

BOB: I thought of about six titles for this. It wasn't really deserted, but a lot quieter than during the summer invasion.

BILL: Thanks for your comment. Appreciated.

LINDA: Glad you think I caught the atmosphere. Those damn seagulls fascinate me. I have so many shots of them that don't get aired. Maybe I'll do a 'Seagull' tab:) The tide came back in while we were there. And yes, that bird on the chain is a starling.

CELIA: I'm glad you like the seagulls. I tend to take far too many shots of them.

KRIS: Thank you. This took me quite a long time to put together. TOD was a nice surprise.

ANDRE: I carry that stuffed starling with me everywhere. He's a good prop:)

Congrats to TOD Mike, a wonderful tabblo of a time, when only stray visitors come to the seaside to get blown through. When some sort of peaceful melancholy comes visiting during a stroll along the harbour front, and one is able to drop the thoughts. You caught that spirit in those photos and moreover did some awesome shots of gulls other birds, but especially of the gulls in flight or the one just shaking its wings in the dazzling light, not to mention the one, who is given you this impatient hungry look.

Really like these pictures Mike. I live in a coastal community, so it hits home. As to seagulls, I consider them flying rodents although they are graceful when they fly. Congrats on TOD.

Wildthing said at 6:28 a.m. on Oct 17, 2009:
