~ Torched ~

Nature's rust.

Maybe I should've called this set 'The Art of Arson'.

Like the remains of some extinct dinosaur, this burned-out carcass of a vehicle had been left to rot and rust.

Most likely stolen by morons who call themselves 'Joyriders', the car had been dumped in the small parking lot of a local beauty spot, to be  stripped of anything worthwhile and set on fire.

Okay, it has a certain beauty about it, but it is accidental vandal art, produced unwittingly as a by-product of theft and destruction.

Thanks, LARS and RAINER.

I have never looked at a burnt out car as a work of art before! I am forever being made to re-evaluate my thinking here on Tabblo and Mike this takes the biscuit!!! However, the way you present these wonderful photographs I can begin to see something in it, albeit the wanton destruction by a group of misguided young people. I really like the first picture!
Wildthing said at 8:04 a.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
Thank you, CELIA. The colours on the wreck reminded me of modern art. I saw the car as an accidental work of art.

Il est triste de constater jusqu'où peuvent aller les actes de vandalisme.
Malgré le feu, cette épave semble avoir garder son âme à travers la rouille et le temps.
Elle parvient même à déteindre sur les couleurs de l'automne...
Merci Mike.

Mike, in his eyes sensitive to this substrate becomes work of art. Congratulations excellent tabblo. The last photo is splendid, combining with the others.

Bravemoonbearer said at 11:49 a.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
So sad but you had the talent to turned this into nice art.
Wildthing said at 11:51 a.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
Thank you, THIERRY et KARINE, NEUSINHA, BILL, JOHN, CHARLES, and ANDRE.

It does blend with autumn colours, and makes a statement as a piece of sculpture.

And it may have met an untimely end by running on false promises, ANDRE, like the ones that all politicians are quick to make, and quicker to break:)
Wildthing said at 11:53 a.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
It is sad for the owner, SANDY. But I guess the old girl will be recycled and become cans for food, or part of another vehicle.
EMA said at 12:06 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
Only the eyes of an artist can see beauty where there is only destruction. I love the detail photos because they look like modern art. The Nature's rust is wonderful. Congratulations! :)

Destruction...

Never underestimate the power of stupidity and vandalism.

Thank you, EDITE, IRA, and ARTUR.
AliDar said at 1:45 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
I like the side mirror shot very much. ... Your photos don't condone the destruction; they show it, and if in the showing there is something beautiful to see because you've seen it and photographed it, then you gift is twofold. And in my opinion, that's what art is. It's a funny thing that we can see beauty in the depiction of the destruction and deterioration of our world, ... but I think without that ability, not many would actually look to see.
Wildthing said at 1:56 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
Nice to hear from you, DAR. Your thoughtful comment sums it up. Though at first glance the damage to the car was just a result of bitterness against society as a whole, by a person or persons with the intelligence of mushrooms, I also saw the colors and shape of something individual and in some way fascinating to look at.
Appropos said at 2:07 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
this looks very sad somehow...nice photos

Tishfish said at 2:36 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
That sort of thing happens at our beautiful Crystal Crescent Beach from time to time. The people that do that wants something for nothing at the cost of others and their insurance companies. It is a great accidental find Mike ! ! !
SnowWhite said at 2:50 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
This may have been born from stupidity, vandalism and destruction, but, you have turned it into a piece of art. Like this a lot :) more so the 'micro' ( just for you ) shots -- lol

Thank you, FARID, ROSANE, DOREEN, and LORRAINE.

Tragic to one and art to others..you did a great job on this one Mike.
Wildthing said at 3:50 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:
Yes, ENALDO, it must have been tragic to the car's owner, but a subject for me to photograph. I'm sure that most vandalism is carried out by people with no self worth.
GeorgePL said at 5:53 p.m. on Oct 14, 2009:

Leftofcenter said at 11:34 a.m. on Oct 15, 2009:
I'm sure somewhere in some modern contemporary abstract art museum, there's a torched car exposed. anything that makes us reflect could be considered art?
Wildthing said at 11:52 a.m. on Oct 15, 2009:
I tend to think that art has to be intentionally created/produced, ANNELIES. I've always had a problem appreciating absracts, that in many cases are 'Accidental Art'. Many of us could do Pollack-style stuff with the right patron:) Maybe I'm wrong, but do I care?
Leftofcenter said at 11:58 a.m. on Oct 15, 2009:
I'd rather look at a goodoldfashioned Rodin sculpture, or Annie Leibovitz photographs, I can't even imagine those lil' green men have actually landed, Fox! :)
Wildthing said at 12:06 p.m. on Oct 15, 2009:
Yeah! Maybe that wasn't a torched car, Scully. Could have been a crashed scout ship from Alpha Wherever:)
Loes said at 5:38 p.m. on Oct 15, 2009:
Shame about the car but it makes you have nice pictures Mike!
Wildthing said at 6:42 p.m. on Oct 15, 2009:
I agree, LOUISE. At least the car has been photographed and seen by a lot of people:)
YonderCreature said at 2:19 a.m. on Oct 16, 2009:
Maybe for once the vehicle is happy to be left alone, not having to do anything for anyone anymore. With this tabblo, what was once abandoned is reclaimed as a work of art that holds the possibility of inspiring people to NOT be like the individual(s) who made this car-cass.
Wildthing said at 5:09 a.m. on Oct 16, 2009:
Fortunately, YC, the vehicle will be neither happy nor sad at its untimely fate. Being as insentient as the neanderthals that stole and torched it, the car will remain in a state of total unawareness, immune to the barbaric treatment it has suffered. That a minority of sick people are happy to treat fellow human beings and animals in the same way as inanimate objects is the real concern. A percentage of bitter, twisted, sad individuals do not deserve to enjoy the luxury and gift of a pulse. Their behaviour is unnacceptable, and the air they breathe is wasted on them.

'Car-cass'. I like that. Why didn't I think of it? :)
HtD said at 1:06 p.m. on Oct 16, 2009:
a beautiful Tabblo Mike. So colorful, almost art. Also a favorite Tabblo.

Thank you, HENK.
Moorlerche said at 7:22 p.m. on Oct 16, 2009:
When I saw the first photo I definetly thought this was some kind of modern art or craft. The right side shows a knight with his helmet down. On the third one and the two last car photos it shows a fascinating coloration. It has a bit of a marble effect. Though the story of the car seems sad, you have awakened it to different kind of life. Send the photos to the Tate Gallery, Mike. They would enrich their exhibition.
Wildthing said at 4:30 a.m. on Oct 17, 2009:
Thank you, ANKE. Fire damage certainly leaves exciting coloration and effects, at the expense of the object it has destroyed.
Chaitiamma said at 5:20 a.m. on Oct 17, 2009:
I worked in junkyard when I was young and I have never looked at discarded cars this way. Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Oh my, poor torched car. Wonderful shots of it, though!
Wildthing said at 5:28 a.m. on Oct 21, 2009:
Found it in car park at Millington Wood, SAR'. Highland cattle were still there. More than the last time we went. Must put 'sheet of metal and blowtorch' on Christmas list for you:)

Yes, poor car, KRIS. It had a real bad day:)
Pkeener said at 11:16 a.m. on Oct 25, 2009:
I love your title treatment and the whole look of this tabblo. the shots of the car are beautiful visually, but emotionally it's hard to imagine a burning car. Great work, Mike. Amazing how low the Morons will go.
Wildthing said at 1:11 p.m. on Oct 25, 2009:
Thanks, PAM. There is nothing as primitive as some people, who revel in destruction.
