This tabblo "Liberty island and Alcatraz" is a continuation about a sandsculpture serie which I made during my summer vacation on Texel, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands.

Great work, Gerard! What on Texel inspired you to make sand sculptures of one of Americas best known prisons? By the way, what's the secret that keeps the sand in these forms without blowing or rinsing away in wind and rain or simply during the sculpturing process?

those sand sculptures are amazing. they had one in Scheveningen the last time I was there in april. so much concentration (en vaak veel wind ook nog!)

Pam, I want to do it perfectly, if it were my own art (and as I write about myself; I think that i'm a collector. A collector of impressions and beautiful things that i will remember and to share with other people).

Dag Gerard, om dit vrijheids beeld zijn ze in Amerika vast vreselijk jaloers. Ik heb veel van deze mooie zandsculptures gezien volgens mij bij Neeltje Jans ( de Delta Werken ) Het zij echt kunstwerken.
