Scott Falls

Sitting on the side of a busy road between Munising and Marquette, Michigan, Scott Falls is a much ignored and unappreciated waterfall I find totally charming.

Part of the charm of this falls is the fact that you can walk around behind it and stand upright comfortably in a cave that has a waterfall functioning as a lacy curtain to the rest of the world.

The cave itself is covered in plantlife, with water seeping through the rocks and dripping to the floor below. The water brings with it minerals, dying the rock interesting colors.

The furry state of the walls is a little creepy, particularly when water is dripping down the back of your neck from unseen seepage above.

The ten-foot drop makes a whirlpool at the base.

The world seen from behind the waterfall.

The trick to getting into the cave is to cross the stream on this log.

Even the ground is charming, with tree roots and fallen leaves decorating the trail.
