Lifequest22 said at 11:39 p.m. on Nov 19, 2009: The Blue Ridge is one of my favorite places to visit. It's always a awe inspiring ride through some of the most beautiful scenery.
Glad you had your hiking boots on Leftie.....Mel, I think those are Rhododendron. ..
Allan, glad you got to see the Blue Ridge..These are the Mountains that the Appalacian Trail runs through. I've also packbacked parts of the trail which starts at Springer Mt. GA and runs all the way to Maine. It's the nation's longest marked footpath, at approximately 2,178 miles
Lifequest22 said at 11:41 p.m. on Nov 19, 2009: Karsten--You would love driving the Parkway--it really is breathe taking.

Wildthing said at 1:58 a.m. on Nov 20, 2009: Great shots of awesome scenery, Linda. We've done part of the Skyline Drive from the Virginia end, back in '98, before I had a digi camera.

Pkeener said at 9:51 a.m. on Nov 20, 2009: What a sweet Good Morning this Tabblo is. Blue Ridge Parkway is on my List and hope to drive it next time visit Carter. I can see the thin blue line of the mountains from where they live. Just like you have captured here. I love how you made this in the large format, to detail the wonderful lichen and moss, grass and trees, rocks and sky. My fave, although it's hard to pick one...is the Welcome sign on the roof shot from above the trees, and the last one with the mist rolling down the mountain, and the close ups of the bark, and the subtle tones in #9. gorgeous
I think this looks like film?

Lifequest22 said at 11:20 a.m. on Nov 20, 2009: Andre--you would just have to be careful not to fall off the mountains.:)
Thanks, Mike..I drove Skyline drive back in the 70's and it has a great view of the Shenandoha Valley.
Daan--the scenery is everywhere and was easy to find lots of good shots...Thank you.
Walter--the Blueridge is a bikers paradise.
Annelies--I really did backback the southern AT twice. We slept in the shelters along the trail. And did a day hike on the Virginia section.
Pam--I hope you get a chance to drive the parkway..the northern section in VA is called Skyline drive..Thanks--I think the large format really fits this type of landscape photography.
Celia--Everything is larger than life in the Blueridge mountains, so I thought that adding the closeups would give that "being there" feel.
Thanks David, Gauleses, Lars, Jesus, Neushina.

If you don't mind I'll just lose myself in the blue hills, the texture and line of the stone walkways, and the forest mist. Then, afterward, I think I'll pop into that orchard place and see what goodies they have to offer this time of year. Very nicely documented and photographed! Thank you. :)
