Hong Kong 2006 ~ Part 1 Lantau Island

I think that if I tell people this is Hong Kong without the tabblo title, they wouldn't have believed me. Afterall, Hong Kong is full of concrete buildings.

But the Lantau Island, where the giant Buddha sits, is probably one of the last patches of 'havens' in Hong Kong.

The newly opened 360 Ngong Ping Skyrail cable car brought us fabulous views on the way to the Po Lin Monastery..

Enjoy~

Below are the pictures I took inside the Skyrail... I have not processed them at all - mainly because I wanted to show, the extent of air pollution in Hong Kong..

I am hoping the people there will become more aware of this increasingly desperate situation..

From afar, the giant Buddha sitting there surrounded by the nature, gives me a feeling of loneliness...

I think I've just seen the smallest police station in my entire life.. and also the smallest real truck (with the exception of toy trucks).

And it's so obvious that I've never been on Lantau Island - because I've never seen blue taxis before!

The sign for no alcohol and vegetarian food is the first ever of this kind I've ever seen... (fun to see it though)

Yes, the pollution there is terrible... it makes me frightened for North America sometimes.
Thanks for sharing your shots.

Un bel tabblo... interessanti le due ultime fotografie, l'avanguardia tecnologica che si muove con mezzi di comunicazione ormai datati. Brava!

Thanks everyone - the view right up at the foot of the Buddha is amazing, as part of the Island (behind the Buddha) is still unpolluted!
